That is quite possibly one of the more absolutely insane and tedious things that I believe I have ever seen.

It would require over 76 basic Carcassonnes to create that display.

I'd like to know what expansions were used.

There's really only one thought I had while looking at the picture: I'm sooo glad I didn't have to play in that game! I don't mind playing once in a while, but when it's over, I'm never wishing it wasn't.

How many meppels were used per player? It could have been a lot without crowding the board

Looking at the picture, I'd say they only used the standard number. There don't appear to be too many on the board.

What about "insane"?

A new Guiness-Worldrecord for the biggest Carcassonne-Game (official: Boardgame-Time-Marathon) is planned for 8.-10.September at Spielezentrum in Herne, Germany (between Dortmund and Bochum). Target is to play 7500+ Carcassonne-tiles in 48 hours.

Spielezentrum Herne is searching for:

1. Team Captains.
At least 4 Team-Captains who will play all 48 hours (pause of 15 minutes every 8 hours). These Team-Captains have to make every move themselves.

2. Testifiers
At least 2 testifiers have to be there all time. A Team-Captain cannot be a testifier, but it will be possible that a testifier consults a Team-Captain, so a testifier can play next to the Captain.
But ... a testifier MUST be an outstanding person like ...
... physicians, journalist, lawyers, judge, notaries, policeman, politician with a seat in a parliament/town councillor, minister/priest, people with a doctor title, teacher (only an official) ...

3. Players
The players will consult the Team-Captains and have to play at least 2 hours before they can be changed.

4. Medical Service
Is someone physician, nurse, medic (or thomething like that), ACTIVE in that job and likes to "work" for 8 hours?

Just imagine trying to figure out the farmers at the end...my head hurts just thinking about it!

What did you use for a scoring track???

I like me some Carc, but I think I'd get burnt out after that.

Imagine separating these tiles back into their boxes afterwards :shudder:

Simple, before mixing tiles, for each tile from a boxset, mark a number corresponding to that box.

I use 3 boxes of 72 tiles in our games, each set is marked wtih 1, 2 or 3 to seperate the 72 from each set. Expansions have their own lettering scheme.

Tiles are drawn from soft fabric bags so you can't see whats on the front or back.

Think about playing a 48 hour Carcassonne and getting your builder stuck badly after half an hour...

I do believe this qualifies as being "Nucking Futs!"

How did the middle tiles get placed, the Peter Pan method?

Kind of puts my dream to play with all the expansions to shame...
