This is a game board that I and two friends made in my workshop and had it airbrushed with the "That's No Moon" image on it. I added 9 layers of polycrylic to give the board a perfectly smooth and fast finish. On the back of the board I added a storage comparment for the cool pieces I made with the ships on them, a score board and set of rules.
The board is hand made, and designed by me and two friends. We live in TN, and I have a workshop in my house that turns out a lot of things, including Crokinole Boards. We have made quite a few traditional boards, and then we decided to "step it up" by adding some cool graphics. We made this board, two with Jupiter on them, and one with the Tennesse Game Days logo. We have the ability to have just about anything painted on the board. It has a lot of unique features, in addtion to being very cool looking. On the back of the board is a carrying handle that can be used to hang it on the wall, a storage comparment for the pieces, a score board and a set of rules for clarification during game play. There will be a picture of the back of the board posted right after I finish this note.
We had a discussion about the inclusion of the Slave 1 on the board. I argued that it was obviously not at the Battle of Yavin, and therefore should not be included. My friend countered with, "You want to include an Imperial Star Destoyer, and there were none of those there either. If they had been there, the Empire would have won the battle, even if the Death Star was destroyed." He also added that "A lot of people are fans of the Fett." I conceded to those points and decided included it.
It was solitaire with cool cards. Zero interaction

I have a friend who is an exceptionally talented artist with an airbrush. He painted it, and can paint just about anything on a board with a good image to start with. He painted the Jupiter Boards too.
All great except for the participation of Slave I.
not an imperial ship!
In all fairness, I think they were simply going with the theme for the ships rather than going by what ships actually took part in the first Death Star battle of EPIV. Otherwise, they also wouldn't have included the A-wings and B-wings. So, I don't see a problem with throwing Slave I in there...after all, it sure wasn't piloted by a member of the Rebellion.
BTW, to the OP...this brings an absolute coolness factor to an otherwise drab-looking game, IMO. It's fun enough for a dexterity game, but I always thought it 'looked' so boring. Kudos to you and your friend, sir!
Wow this board is great! How about some other ideas for everyone to ponder. Lord of the Rings anyone? A map with Mount Doom as the center hole sounds pretty cool to me!
How about some them photos. Settlers of CATAn, MAgic the GAthering, BattleStar Gallactica! all good themes
Another goood one, The DUNE boadgame! That picture is already round. Now you can fight for the spice. The Sleeper must be awakened...to play Crokinole!
I just can't decide which theme to have these guys make.
So what's the price tag on this guy with custom pieces?
I have a bad feeling about this.
I'm interested too...but afraid.

I'd just like to say that I'm in the process of ordering, and Dan has been fantastic in helping my friend and me pick the disks we want.
As for the price, I thought it was a reasonable amount for a crokinole board and a great price for a "that's no moon" crokinole board with custom disks.
For whatever reason (forum rules? freedom to adjust price due to fluctuating cost of materials?), he hasn't listed the price here, so you'll have to talk to him for a price quote.

I have to agree. The price he quoted me seemed perfectly reasonable. If I had the cash on hand, I would have been all over it. If I didn't already have a Hilinski that I love, I might would have charged it anyway At any rate, I expect to pick one up in the future if they keep making them. In addition to That's No Moon, I'm thinking a crokinole board of R2-D2's head, with the big eye as the center hole would be awesome.

"I HAVE A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS!" Anybody? Never mind.
Although that is a masterpiece itself, wait till you see the Jupiter one. In person it totally stole the show! I hope you got em out before the flood !!!
Wow, the first time I do not complain when an abstract game gets a theme just pasted airbrushed on! Compliments for that great job. How does the Star Trek board look like?
We have not actually made a board with a Star Trek them yet, but we discussed the idea of making the board look like the Federation Symbol and having the pieces be various Federation Ships for one color and all of the Enemies of the Federation for the other. We also talked about putting the Enterprise D on the board either top down with the bridge being the 20 hole, or at a 3/4 profile to show off the ship.
