Two new players, two with two previous games, and myself with just one.
We avoided at least one mistake we made in the first game, taxation only affect the nation that triggers it.
Come the end Great Britain reached the 25 mark first so it was him in control of that country that won, it seemed likely that I'd have won if I'd managed to get the Russian Empire there first as it was largely the two of us in front after each investment phase.

We seemed to doing quite well, about to find at least one cure, and the game ended because of a black outbreak.

Second play for the evening. Things never looked bad and we managed to get the scientist two lots of cards twice so discovering a cure only needed to happen twice. (Yes, I have realised that may mean we played the limit of 7 cards incorrectly. We were taking the rule to be that at the end of your turn you could only have 7 cards.)

I won because I got lucky a number of times. Pulling the right tile to steal nearly completed cities/roads even after having my opponents come close to making them impossible to join into.

I wouldn't have won if I had built another city like I'd thought about, she that came second told me it wasn't a good idea.

Totaling up victory points I was tied with another player, looking at money we each had a coin. I had six resources to his five so I win, but that has to be the closest game I have ever played that wasn't a tied game.

If the cards are involved I get beaten soundly.
This time I tried to hard to get a minor improvement out that would provide me with 1 food in each of the last 7 rounds.
