Darriel & Joc's first game, they both liked it a lot, despite the crushing score. They definitely made a mistake of adding tiles that I bought up in winter.

We played with Objectives, Race Powers, Experimental Reactors, and Advisers.
Between Allan and Steve was Myros the Tactician, swayed by Building Blue locations. Between Allan and Z was Aveline Kerr, swayed by Discarding for Credits or Power Reactors. Between Steve and Z was Ysh Otson, swayed by Building Yellow locations. The Objectives were Fully Operational (no one achieved), Intergalactic Trade (this was tied), and Technologically Advanced (won by Steve).

I won the objective Grand Attractions, Z won the objectives of Multi-Purpose(in year 2! Damn the Vak!), Reach for the Stars, and Energy Efficient. Sadly I made a huge mistake to take on another power generator in the last year giving Z the Energy Efficient, A turn where I could have built a 3 or 4 point location and tied her up or won.

Played with Experimental Power Generators, Race Powers, Objectives, and Assistants (B-EV 13978 on the "R" locations and Ysh Otson on the "D" locations). I won the Technologically Advanced objective and Sarah won Intergalactic Trade and her secret goal of Fully Operational (barely as she forgot about it for part of the game).

Three player game with Races and Objectives, no event/aggressive cards.

Objectives: Accelerated Construction (Allan), Intergalactic Trade(Steve), First Line of Defense(Steve)

I lost despite winning two objectives and Allan HATING his race, which I think shows a very strong design.

Intro play for Darriel and Joc, They liked it a lot and Darriel puled a head to win with an excellent turn seven race pick. Additionally, I thought Jocelyn was winning, so I was beating her up the most and possibly played king-maker inadvertently.

This was the second play for Darriel and Joc, and we didn't let them sneak away with high scores this time. Darriel got his first pick of Shrubmen into almost every forest and it changed the shape of the board for the whole game.

First game using the Bestial Forces schools added in. Also first time using the Specialization School variant, which I will never play without now.

General magic deck consisted of Chaos, Mentalism, and Thaumaturgy schools.

Used the Specialization School variant. Played with the variant where a player is eliminated when both of their treasures are in other player's home sectors; this made for a much slower game and I probably won't use it again.

The general magic deck consisted of the Mythology, Draconic, and Necromancy schools.

Playing this was at the end of the night was a bit more than Jeremy was ready for, and he didn't do that great. Tom crushed everyone with a very strong series of Loki drafts. The five player game was very intense, Seemed like a ton of strategies, and it was very interesting how every one interacted.

We did a really good job of teaching Autumn this game, she got the full rules explanation seeing the first turns of all her competition. She also made good use of the feuds between Allan and I and between Jeremy and Tom.

Second play for Allan and I and first for Sarah. Still really enjoying it. I was able to win by forcing a quick end to the third age so that Allan couldn't press the advantage of a combo he drafted that would allow him to boost his Axes & Horns into the 20 point tier. Beat him by one point.

Sarah came home from work as we were wrapping up our play with Tom. Ha and Z left, but we had this monster set up, so we played another round. Sarah hasn't lost her touch, she always seems to make great decisions in the early game that winner the day in the end. Allan squeezed out some bigger plays in the last to rounds, while I failed to capitalize on my board position nearly so well.

I taught this to Tom a couple weeks back and we played spring and summer, but had to end early. I'm glad he got to play it. It was a very good play, Tom was happy that he kept up with Allan and I, but fell into the new-player pit-fall of going into winter with too few meeples.

We broke this out for the first time. played it wrong in one respect: missed the rule that states the first player marker moves to the left each turn. Still it's a really interesting card drafting & area control game. I came from behind with an awesome combo in age three.

Played the basic game with no expansions. Sarah thought that she was very far behind, ended up in second place. I was able to make a huge play with skill tiles and I think that that speaks to it's strength: that I've been able to win with multiple strategies even after my family has adopted previously winning strategies.

I rather enjoyed this learning play-through. That said, I think it would be a very game with three or four players as the competition would change. Instead, Allan and I mirrored eachother's moves with very slight divergences. I am glad that I was able to beat him, because I initially thought it might have a heavy favoring to the start player (more than the single dollar difference in starting money).

First time we've played with Five[star] added in. I enjoyed everything except the added set-up steps. they turned out more tedious than I guessed.

Allan won by a landslide. He used the Hermit goal to focus on other aspects of the goal. He ended up getting the Casino and then used the Redevelopment Planer to grab the PR Firm. After that he pretty much ran away, even winning none of the public goals.

Sarah the private goal Settler, and the public goals Miser and Environmentalist (breaking a tie as the star leader). I won my private goal of Foodie and the public goal of Builder.

We also had the Money Bonus (only Allan succeeded) and the Residential Challenge (only I succeeded).

First time we've played with the Farmers added in. I very much enjoyed everything the expansion added in. We played the suggested Farmers variant. That was not my favorite.

in the winter phase I cleaned up, I'd leveraged much of summer and fall to have a ton of workers. I had over twenty workers, and out bid Allan on most of the winter scoring tiles and the first boat pick.

Matt Mounted a huge army of 7 of 8 of his troops, took control of the last building he needed to get one metropolis and then two turns later turned that force to take over Allan's metropolis. Fortunately I went into that round with 20 coins and bid on Zues, who was last in turn order, I spent 15 coins to rotate the entire monster deck until I had access to the Pegasus and Harpies, so that I could take Matt's first (poorly guarded) metropolis without a fight. I'm sure he won't fall for that one in the future.

Sarah set up on the "yellow" positions from the 2 player set up in the rules, leaving myself the "black."

I'm not sure how balanced these are, but I don't think they are too bad, that said the game became very one-sided a turn before the end.

I own too many good two-player war-games to play this one as such again.

Sarah was disheartened due to a fairly early first scoring that happened before she'd bought a single building.

I forced the game to end earlier than the other players expected by crafting when they didn't expect it and then Sarah captained right after and that ran us out of VP chips. That end condition tends to be rarely used with our group, as we are all usually trying to get to the double-sized end-game scoring buildings. I'm glad that the end game rush worked out.
