4er with Nick, Nathan, and Page. Nick won handily by using the peasant quite a bit. Nathan and I struggled over the king, and I think that's a waste of time. Best strategy seems to be a good spread of population all around the board using the peasant and (sometimes) merchant.

3er with Kristina and Tim. Those two were close until the very end. I was strongest militarily and had planned to hit each of them with a War over Culture. Sadly, only Kristina had to take this, and so Tim won by much more than he would have otherwise.

5er with Mike, Justin, Bryan, and Nathan. Again did not get terribly far--three turns for everyone, I believe--but I thinks it's doable in an hour. First 15 minutes were taken up with setup and explaining it to Mike, who was late. I had only one wound, and so was winning when we wrapped it up, but it would have gone very differently if we'd had time to finish.

5er with Mike, Ben, Bryan, and Justin. Very nice, light game. I managed to pull off the win by driving my low-value titles out of the stores in the early turns, then snapping up sets of everyone else's low values (1s and 2s). Mike came in second.

6er with Nathan, Page, Ben, Mike, and Bryan. My second play, and the second time someone (Nathan this time) has cut me out of the game in the second turn. The random "effect" cards just make the game so unbalanced that I'm not sure it's worth playing with them at all. OTOH, Nathan came in second to last, thanks to my payback, so maybe players need to learn that an early screw move is a bad strategy.

My first 4p game, with Nathan to my left, Bryan to my right, and Ben across from me. I drew the wonder that grants military, so went for a resource/military strategy that paid off. Bryan and Nathan both went for science, while Ben I pounded them with fairly small militaries--I had seven military for 13 points in the end. Ben was within three points of me in the end, but I got lucky with the guilds and pulled off the win.

6er with Nathan, Bryan, Ben, Mike, and Justin. Six players makes for a chaotic game--with only five vikings each, many turns are spent waiting for a sufficient number to get out of the hospital. Ben went for a buy-heavy strategy, while I bought the better goods and defended against attacks. We were close, but I think Ben had it in the end. Bryan kept attacking Nathan because (he said) Nathan wasn't defending enough.

Good 4-player game, with one other experienced player and two noobs. Oddly, the noobs ended up winning. We split PRR 3 ways, and no one built it. The noobs each got extra shares in blue and yellow, and then pushed both to Chicago. Should have wasted some trains for them, in retrospect.

5er with Bryan and Jen, Kory and Sarah. A full game, finally! It went really well. I was impressed with how well the end conditions matched up; the game ended after six turns due to depopulation, but would have ended on the next turn due to either of the other two endgame conditions.

Sarah didn't like being mean, but played very well--she confirmed that the veto mechanic works by playing it at the perfect moment, when no one suspected it.

Jen ended up winning, in large part due to favorable marriages.

6er with Bryan, Ben, Page, Mike, and Justin. First game here with both expansions. It looked like another PRR rollover--the rhythm of the auctions was just right to split up the shares, but make sure they were impossible to block. Fortunately, the Erie rescued me; paid $25 for the share, then drove it to Detroit (@$5) and then Chicago for a huge payoff. If I hadn't been allowed to finish it, the PRR holders would have won, but the extra payoff was enough to push me way out in front.

A mammoth 8-player intro game to celebrate Nathan's birthday. Playing were myself, Nathan, Bryan, Trey, Justin, David, Kurt, and Page. Those of us on my side of the board (me, Bryan, Page) were much more tightly constrained due to a random map layout. David left two hours in, leaving Nathan and Kurt with many nice planets between them. Still, everyone played well with what they had, and it was close throughout. We did not feel like we were close enough to the end to call a winner after 7 hours (!), but Nathan looked to be in the lead. Everyone wants to play again, myself included. First games with the new cards. Lots of fun: Bryan was a spy the first game, and he threw it on the third mission, losing deliberately because he thought the spies didn't have chance and wanting to start a new one. 3er with Nathan and Ben. It seems that there is a big disadvantage to going first, which I did. Every move just set Nathan up to encroach on the spaces I wanted allowing him to finish buildings and get more builders. Meanwhile, every time I finished a building it yielded me black coins, which were worthless for most of the game. This meant that I didn't want to waste a banner cashing in, and kept me from refreshing my builders. Nathan won by nearly 50 points. Not much fun, never felt like Ben or I were in the game at all.

6ers with Bryan, Nathan, Ben, Mike, and Justin. Fun, very chaotic. Mike won the first game. Second game we played with the special power cards. After agreeing to team up on Nathan, Bryan killed me just so he could take my gun, letting Nathan win handily--ticked me off.

5er with Ben and I as Indians, Justin, Page, and Bryan as Settlers. We cut the game a bit short, which wasn't fair to the settlers, and Ben and I tied for the high score.

4er with Bryan, Justin, and Mike (Ben started, but had to leave early). Bryan did a good job explaining. Good game, overall; I ended up on top due to some handy bonuses. Shame Ben had to leave, because he was aSnitch; this would have been interesting. Worth playing again.

4er with Mike, Page, and Nathan. Very, very cool game. Tight and exciting, with difficult decisions. We got about 1/2 way through; Mike won by a few bucks.

êr, Haunt #19, Ben was the traitor versus me, Mike, Nathan, Bryan, and Justin. I really didn't think we had a chance, but Ben fortunately had the Amulet on his person that would allow me to damage him. I got some extremely lucky rolls and managed to kill him, but it was close, which is good.

Great game--I think it will take us a few plays to get our heads around it. 6er with Nathan, Bryan, Mike, Justin, and Ben. Not sure 6 is the optimal number for this, as we each got exactly one company per turn. We stopped after turn 4, with Mike in the lead.

4er with Page, Bryan, and Mike. Very interesting game--I think some fun strategies might start to suggest themselves after another play or two. Bryan won hands down by dominating the big 5-spot opening committee.

Tight 6er with Page, Nathan, Bryan, Ben, and Mike. We called it after the third dividend due to time constraints. I never did feel like I got my feet under me, and Page won easily. Mike and I were tied for third, while Nathan edged us out for second. I'm always amazed at how quickly the UP shares go.

3er with Bryan and Ben. I won fairly easily, but I'm sure that was due more to a bit of experience and luck on my part than anything else. A fun game, and fairly ugly for as simple as it is.
