BoardGameGeek Presents Games International Magazine (PDF Version)

What is Games International?

Games International was founded by myself in 1989 and was the first English language magazine to cover German board games. At that time, as you will see from the back issues, GI also covered war and role-playing games and in the latter stages, computer games (the heresy!). The inaugural issue was probably the first instance of a games magazine publishing a lengthy strategy article on a game (Schoko & Co) which had not yet been reviewed, but also one that only a few readers had ever heard of. Contributors from this period included a number of names still prominent in the games industry today: Derek Carver, Greg Cositkyan, Alan Moon, Bruce Shelley, Ellis Simpson and James Wallis.

Issue 17 of Games International appeared at the Essen Spiele '04 last October. It's mission the same as ever: to provide in-depth coverage of board and card games, presented and written in such a way as to appeal to anyone with an interest in this form of entertainment, and not just a select few. The PDF version of the magazine is scanned at medium resolution so as to combine crisp imagery with a manageable download time. In comparison to the print version, the PDF will contain hyperlinks to relevant articles and discussions on the Geek. It will also have an updated news section, possibly additional previews and will appear three weeks after the corresponding print edition. The print edition comes on high quality paper and with a monthly frequency.
