I was just recently whining about not being able to get travel or magnetic Tantrix in the US. And now that the initial rush of popularity is over, you can't throw a brick in the US without hitting a big-box retailer who sells Sorry! Sliders.

So yes...let's talk a swap. :)

I've done a bit of digging because I've had the same problems trying to find it over here, or indeed, get a copy sent over from a US retailer. So far, the best reason I've been able to discover is that there's some kind of a licence/IP issue over the name 'Sorry' and as such it's not a product that will be available here until whatever the potential lawsuit is resolved.

Now, I've no idea if that's actually true or not, but it's at least as plausible as any others I've heard...

Guess I really ought to look into setting up a trade or swap with a Stateside geek if I want a copy, but haven't gotten around to it as yet.

You're missing the fact that HasbroUK are effectively no more than mere distributors, who bring in only those games that the likes of WHSmith, Argos and ToysRUs ask for. Their levels of competence are right up there with that of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation Marketing Division.

I've been trying to get hold of this game for some time now. However, it would seem it's forbidden to have this game in the UK. There are no UK retailers that sell it (as far as I have been able to find), foreign retailers won't ship it to the UK - and in the rare case that they do, shipping costs almost as much as the actual game! What's up with this? Am I missing something here?

I noticed that FGN finally released the Sorry Sliders module (on XBox live last night).

Did anyone buy it yet?
The demo had some additional variants, mostly applying to online play only, like power-ups that allowed your next slider to gain special powers (like heavy weight so it couldn't be moved once slid, or accuracy, and others).

What were all the abilities?
Would any translate to interesting table-top variants?
I can think how the heavy slider power-up might be simulated by replacing your piece with a metal pawn after sliding (if you could find a similar-size metal slider).

There was also a "Battle-Box" version of the online Sorry Sliders game - but it's not available in the demo.
What is it like?

I'm sorry, mate, but I, like others, disagree strongly with your review. I think it is more your tone than your actual conclusion. Your review is full of logical fallacies and hyperbole and short on concrete examples that would help your audience follow your train of thought.

Ya know, I checked out your collection and that gave me a much clearer picture of why you would find Sliders so unfulfilling than your review did. Our tastes are not unsimiliar actually - we both have strong affinity for abstracts, Hive especially :) If you play Sliders when you are in the mood to play one of those, of course you will not enjoy it.

But, just last night, I had a couple of friends from work over for wine and we played Sliders over and over. One of them has played just about all of my crazy games and the other likes Jenga. Laughs ensued and memories were made. I also likely covered the cost of the game by not going to the bar instead. This is the enviorment where Sliders shines in ways that Hive can't. Its a checkmate in my book.

by Larry Welborn

This is the final week of school for my son and his teacher designated today as "Boardgame Day". Each child could bring a game to school and the class would spend much of the day playing the games. My son wanted me to help him pick a game. I thought that Sorry! Sliders would be a good choice because it was easy to play and easy for my son to teach to others. My son agreed and took the game to school. When I got home from work, I asked him for a session report.

My son said that Sorry! Sliders was the most popular game in his class. It was constantly played and everyone in the class wanted to play, although the boys were more interested than the girls. My son said he played it about 6 times and the rest of the time he stayed with the game to teach others how to play. He said all of his classmates got the opportunity to play at least once. He said that it was really easy to show everyone how to play and the kids were enjoying themselves the entire time.

I was glad to hear that the game was a success and I was pleased that my son would sit out to let others play but stay at the game to teach. I was also pleased that the game arrived home safely without any pieces disappearing. My son said he made sure the game was complete after each playing.

Sorry! Sliders is a fun game for both children and adults and has the added bonus of being available in mainstream stores such as Target, Walmart and Toys R Us.

Do you also write a summary of your session or other extra details?

I do make notes of unusual or exceptional plays that occur. I also record information that changes in each game. For example, I write down the sets of cards used in each play of Dominion. If a particular combination of cards works well, we can go back and use that set again. For Smallworld, I track the race/power combinations for each player. Eventually I want to compare those and see if certain races do better than others.

I agree with the others. Do what works for you. I only record my plays in a notebook, not anywhere online. I'm on notebook #14, which is games played since 1998. I didn't record game plays before that.

For Sorry Sliders we always play multiple games per session. We just list each player's name, and give them a checkmark for each win. We also make note of which color board was used.

There are no rules about recording plays.

So do whatever you want. What I do: If I am playing one game at a time, I record each game as a play. If I am playing best of three (which is more common), I will record the 2 or 3 games it takes to decide a winner, and record that as one play. I usually play the same game to decide best of three (IE: Race for Home, etc.).

It is your list do what you want.

I would record each game. I know 1 game of Sliders is not the same as one game of some long, complex game.

	Hi,

Just got this game and realised that a single game takes 5 minutes lol. So each time the game is taken out, we play at least 3 games each using different boards.

So when I record plays here, do I record 3 plays if we played 3 games? Or do I record 1 play because I took the game out once?

If I played a game like Pandemic twice in one seating I would come here and record 2 plays, so do I do it like this for Sorry! Sliders?

Thanks
