Wench is a simple to learn but not so simple to win (requires dexterity and quick thinking) non-collectable card game. The premise is simple : be the first one to get rid of all your cards and be crowned the King of Beers (Yes, you Bud).

Every turn, a player may either :
a) Play a gold border card or
b) Draw a card

Since the game revolves around getting rid of all your cards, option (b) is really a last resort. The gold border cards are divided into 2 types : the stay in play (an icon of a beer on the table) and play it now/discard after use (a gears icon card). There can only be one 'stay in play' card per player and it stays in play throughout the game until the player exhanges the card in play with another in his hand. The 'play and discard' cards are played and discarded on the same turn.

Then, there is the blue border cards, which essentially are fast effect cards (or interrupts, in Magic terms). These cards can be played anytime as long as the conditions are met.

When a certain condition on the cards are met, the player can claim the reward (eg. discard a card from hand, give a card to another player). The fun begins when a player forgets to do something that is stated on the cards and is penalised (usually punished with drinking a pint of beer).

This game is great for social nights, especially where alcohol is available. The game is also small enough to carry around (only a pack of cards) in your back pocket.

And if you are tired of playing this game, the cards in this game also doubles as poker cards. There are 52 cards of four suits in the deck with 2 additional Joker cards, just like regular playing cards. How convenient, ya?

The gameplay is very simple, but for a beer and pretzels night, this game is perfect. Nothing beats a drunkard saluting (because of a card in play) and talking in slow motion (because of another card in play) while trying to keep his hands in the air (yet another card) just to get rid of a card in his hand while trying not to break any rules (which are set down by the cards in play).

So, let us recap: great drinking game, can be used as poker cards, small enough to carry around, very fun to watch and play. So, yeah, what are you waiting for?? Get one today and be the life of any party!! A word of caution: chicks dig this game.

Gameplay : ***** (Simple but ingenious mechanics)
Components : ***** (Nice art...)
Replayability : *** (For when you are drunk only)
Concept : **** (Unique and fun)
Overall : **** (Really good but not exceptional)
