There is hyperbole here, of course, but it certainly captures what is often an essential difference in how the sexes value the boardgaming experience. My wife loves me very much and strives to please me as I her. But while she accommodates my hobby by participating willingly, I can't help but realize that at the end of the day her life would not be diminished one iota if boardgames ceased to be an aspect of her life.
