I have the four words, FINALLY, but can't figure out the final step. The numbers don't work like the others did.

Edit: Never mind!! I had a wrong letter.

BIG BIG SALT for the last step
Spoiler (click to reveal)

At this point the numbers are not important, translate to be like the original clues

I got it now. Was using a bad reference for the last step, so even though I had the process right, I kept getting the wrong letters.

I hate it when I waste time through sheer stupidity.

ashes to ashes, dust to dust. we must all return to whence we came, rather than to repeat what we have already done.

Well, atomic numbers don't seem to be working. I get a bunch of gibberish. Cryptogram solvers are yielding much either.

Spoiler (click to reveal)
The Memorial puzzle hinted to in the blog was using the state capitals as clues, but I don't see any states listed.

Spoiler (click to reveal)
I also tried the column numbers as cyphers. Also, the colors that each is on. Still working things out.

Pretty big spoiler
Spoiler (click to reveal)
The atomic numbers are important - apply to the puzzle on the screen

Dangit, I was closer than I thought on my first try ...

(More specific spoiler alert!)

Spoiler (click to reveal)
I felt it was a cryptogram; the thing is, the key phrase also has 26 letters. More importantly, the same letter could be represented by different elements, which is what threw me ... I didn't think my guesses to the first and last word could both be right for that reason, but it turns out they were!

Kind of a Lot of Salt

Spoiler (click to reveal)
Not Colors.

There is something about the Numbers which is important, but not for the first reason that springs to mind.

Spoiler (click to reveal)
After the four words are solved, numbers are no longer necessary. Try something else. Try something a lot simpler.

OK, thanks to your salt I got the 4 words, now I need to figure out what to do with them. 2 of them are larger than 26 so that doesn't help me. Any more clues out there?

Finally!!!! OK I'm stupid, but I finally got it. I think I'm gonna go get some fine comfort food!!!

I do think the actual answer is quite clever.

Wow!
The puzzle has been up for 2hrs and 15 minutes - and only one (now two) post!!
Woo Hoo!

--- coming up on four hours! I guess after all the really tough ones everyone could do this one in their sleep. OR too tired after the superbowl laugh

Tanga + 9 (universal Tanga time) and still only two (noe three) posts. Knowing that the answer was 10 letters long helped me get it on the third letter!

And here I was so proud of myself for getting yesterday's without salt... now this one looks like it should be easy, and I guess I don't know my balls. (Insert joke here.)

You only need to pay attention to one aspect of the balls/puck/frisbee. The sport that they belong to doesn't matter at all.

When I first looked at this one I thought to myself that it was simple. But then, even though I do know my balls, not much matched the crossword puzzle. Any one have an some starting help for this one?
