"P" only has one E

sdownin wrote:
OK. I need help with the hypercross. As far as I can tell I've got everything spelled right, the letters "cross" perfectly, and all follow the theme. It's still telling me I'm wrong. Can someone help me out here?

Much obliged.

Strange part is, I typed what I had into wikipedia, and it pulled an aritcle up straight away. I didn't bother to notice that it had a slightly different spelling in the headline.

For the love of Pete! I'm still working on the easy one, and I have never used this much scratch paper for a puzzle. I've been scribbling notes now for hours and just found out that I have retried things more than twice when checking over my notes.

Anyone want to throw me a bone?

The salt that helped me is out there somewhere but I'll repost it again. Quite salty, explains how to get the key (but doesn't actually explicitly show it).

Spoiler (click to reveal)
This is a fairly simple substitution puzzle. The key to this puzzle is that you are only interested in half the deck, the two major suits. How many cards would that be? 26? How many letters are there in the alphabet? 26? The major suits in bridge can be easily found doing a simple google search.

You just have to assign the cards to the alphabet, remember Ace is the high card. If you do one suit then the other and the answer comes out gibberish switch your suit order, put the other one first and it should make a word (no anagraming needed).

If you want an explicit answer, GM me and I'll send you the cryptographic key.

You're not the only one. I don't really have a clue either.

Totally lost on the boycott thing. I have a funny feeling it's that I have some of the parts, but not saying them right.

I don't know that 'boycott' means anything or is a clue. I think it's filler text. The salt on tanga that got it for me was

Ouch...a little thinking showed me to be overcomplicating it.

Thanks...

I ciphered the letters using the "character" cipher but it just leads to jibberish at the moment.

As grey traces of dawn tinge the eastern sky, the three travellers, men of Willowdale, emerge from the forest's shadow. Fording the river, they turn south, journeying into the dark and forbidding lands of The Necromancer...

I'm finding varying ciphers for the pigpen/freemason cipher:

&

Any hints on how to find the correct version?
