As grey traces of dawn tinge the eastern sky, the three travellers, men of Willowdale, emerge from the forest's shadow. Fording the river, they turn south, journeying into the dark and forbidding lands of The Necromancer...

Try and think of another word for "Bringin' up"

SALT
Spoiler (click to reveal)
Also without the "g" at the end

Add/Subtract Maze

Spoiler (click to reveal)
I had a guess on how to do it, but I can't figure out how to implement it. I assumed the numbers correspond to letters of the alphabet, and you add or subtract that numbered letter to the starting word. But starting with either "Start" or "End" using the alphabet either forwards or backward it wants me to subtract letters that aren't in either word. Am I completely off track?

A little off track.

Spoiler (click to reveal)
You start with one letter (plenty of salt for this on the TANGA site if you read some of the messages carefully). Then apply the first number to this letter to get the second letter. For example if the start letter is A add one and get B. Apply the second number to the second letter and so on. If you know Excel you can use it to figure it out for each starting letter. Use the CODE and CHAR functions.

hrm...thought I had something, but appears I don't (or just don't know where to go from here)
Spoiler (click to reveal)
I did the maze and saw the letters s, m, j, l, and n. I noticed each of the letter groups had one or more of these letters and thought maybe as the "getaway" car was fleeing, they "dumped" letters, so I removed them from the groups. That left me with:
yaazor
hpifi
uyxtra
bwgbi
cedape
otkue
wvoig

Problem is these don't appear to make a word line up or anagram into anything.

I filled in the 7 x 7 maze with the 7 x 7 letters as shown, then followed the path that the cars would take, got gibberish.

Heavy salt?

Spoiler (click to reveal)
Make sure you start in the right spot. Then, think wordsearch.

Sorry, if this one sucks. It's hard to tell how hard a puzzle is when you're the maker.

I just had to be patient enough to do the work (in Excel, because I don't have a printer handy) and then the answer was right there.

Well, I have read and reread the salt and I am 100% stumped. I also put the letters in a 7 x 7 grid to no avail. How is one supposed to figure out how to start and what to do?

Assume the letters are NOT in a 7 x 7 grid (edit-> as shown below the maze.

Edit:
Spoiler (click to reveal)
They become a 7 x 7 arrangement once you put them in the maze.

Of course I know that. Once I did the first part, it was jibberish. Then I a, being told

to think word search

Which yields nothing.

EDIT: I got it, nevermind.

So the letters AREN'T in a 7x7 grid? I'm completely lost. Robrizob told ahecht he was right when he had it in a 7 x 7 grid.

And all this talk about word searches make me think it should be in a grid.

I'm ready to give up.

All this salt has been zero help.
