Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.

Is there any salt available for the puzzle with the rhyming riddles and the big red "E"?

Or the "After Words" puzzle with the horse and rider in the background?

Or the treasure map puzzle?

Any hints for the pi puzzle?

Spoiler (click to reveal)
I assume that all the letters in the grid are indeed red herrings and that the solution must have something to do with the hundred trailing digits of pi, but I'm just not making the connection. Maybe I'm being too literal, but I found the "one before" (3) in the next 100 digits many times, and I don't know if I'm on the right track or not.

I also guessed that perhaps the answer is the one before the image behind the grid (pi), which in the Greek alphabet is omicron, but that's not it either.

The letters in the puzzle have a direct application to the puzzle

Mild salt
Spoiler (click to reveal)
the directions tell which digits are to be applied to the letters

Salty salt
Spoiler (click to reveal)
It is only a single digit

*Very* salty salt
Spoiler (click to reveal)
The places where the digit in question appear corespond directly to the placement of the letters, i.e. if the digit appears in the 3rd decimal place, take the third letter in the grid

I spent nearly 2 hours AFTER he gave away how to do the puzzle figuring that stupid thing out. Nearly ruined my day. I was pissed when I heard that the first word was longer than 5 letters, and pissed when I figured out that it wrapped around to the 2nd row.

Even with the sentence and google, it took me 20 minutes to find an answer.

I think the word "trade" is unfair, as it would be more one way - you to me!!!

But if there's something you're stuck on - g'head and post. We'll get'er done!

Look for a synonym of glowing. Maybe if you think about it hard enough a lightbulb will go off.

Can anybody help me with http://www.tanga.com/puzzles/1391-11-28-2007 ?

I tried plugging in all the states on a map, and I get nothing. Some heavy salt would be appreciated either in response or in GM.

Try shading them in on a map and then blur your eyes.

I was hoping to solve this before I went to bed. I think the words are:
Spoiler (click to reveal)
discontent
network
centennial
freighter
prisoner
stenography
ozone
rat?
heavyweight
cantonese

I'm guessing that one finds numbers by
Spoiler (click to reveal)
taking the first letter of the words on a phone? Gives:
3
6
2
3
7
7
6
7
4
2

Using these numbers then one
Spoiler (click to reveal)
puts them back into the word to get the letters:
s
r
e
e
e
r
o {wrapped around}
r {wrapped around}
v
a

Obviously not correct

I haven't figured this one out yet either, but I know you've got the wrong poison. The correct one is near the end of the movie, and the screenplay is available. I'm stumped on the numbers too.

Thanks Paul. That actually did it for me. I had been googling norman bates and poison but googling and searching the screenplay gave me the right poison and also told me I had gotten my numbers incorrectly.

Ok. I had figured out all the words. Your posts told me what to do with them. Got the numbers, got those plugged back in to get letters.

Now what?

The letters that that method gives don't appear to mean anything. At least not anything that I can figure out. And nothing jumps out at me when I say the name of the poison out loud, especially nothing that associates in my mind with that random string of letters.
