Ok, I assume the US-Centric refers to the word
Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
fahrenheit.
Is that wrong? And even if it's right....how do I apply it?
SALT! (please)

You are right about the US-Centric referral
First look at robrizob's post above. If that doesn't do it for you then look at this
VERY SALTY

Hypercross salt:
Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
Because of the hint on the board T=9. This means that G must be one or two. Which means D/S must be either 3/4 or 1/4. Both of which contain the digit four.
More Hypercross salt:
Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
The column before that has one carried into it.
Even more salt:
Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
This means that R/E/A has only one set of possible digits.

No,
Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
why couldn't G be 3 with D/S being either 1/2?

Any salt for the easy and the hard? Nothing posted on Tanga has given me the slightest idea where to even start...

Been trying anagrams since last night. Nothing that gives me a single word or a hint at a single word.

You're apparently mixing ALL the letters together?

Tried that. Tried anagrams of the separate words. Nothing gives me an aha or looks like a clue...

Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
Time is important....the two given times are key to the puzzle. Why are those listed?
Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
Try using an analog clock

Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
Try using an analog clock
I did that (as well as I could, given the lack of a non-virtual one in our house).
Got the following:
Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
12:00
1:06
2:10/11
3:15/16
4:44
5:27
6:33
7:38
8:43/44
9:49
10:55
Even accounting for the ones that might be off, I can't figure out where it's going. The three selected times are 1:06,3:15/16, and the second 12:00. Tanga numbers don't seem to be working here.

That gets me
Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
wiaoh or wiaph (depending on that one borderline time). Neither of which anagram to anything I can find. Am I simply ludicrously off in one of my times?

12:00
1=a
6=f
3=c
17=q
12=l

Try Googling for a list to help determine the borderline cases. Guess I got lucky and got the right times to start

Thanks, I got my answers the old fashioned way, by actually picking up a clock and determining the numbers...
(BTW - those DON'T match the wiki list)
Here's
salt
for those still frustrated
Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
you have to anagram to get the final result

Its amazing that there is a wiki answer with the same list I came up with. I used a pocket calculator and geometry to make the puzzle. Solving it would be easier with Excel.

Any hints for the Hypercross - I am missing the 2 shoes on the map and the 4 hams ones. Maybe not brands I am familiar with or maybe I am just a little dense in the weekends. (probably due to the theme!)
