Hiho,

the rules state, that I can only exchange disks for cards in the administration phase if I have MORE than 4 disks in my storage. Is this intentionally so? When I have exactly 4 disks I won't be able to buy a card?

Thanks,
Olav

Olav, I have no official role in the production of this game, but I've played its prototype quite a bit. I'm almost certain that's careless wording in the rules. If you have exactly 4 disks, you turn them in and receive a card.

Thanks for mentioning what appears to be a glitch in the rules. Maybe Tom or Markus can make an official ruling here, but for now, assume this should read "If this results in a player having four or more coins in their treasury...".

The rules should read "four or more", not "more than four coins in their treasury...". The examples below are correct.

Thanks,
tom

Wow. I had completely missed this - so you can buy a card for 4 discs? I wonder if this makes the granary more useful, or less, than how we had been playing thusfar. I'd been largely ignoring the granary, using things like Dye Houses for storage, and the City Centre to burn off excess discs.

Just to be clear, you buy a card for four disks during the Administration step Deal Production cards (not in the middle of your turn). You can spend a card into your treasury during the Buy Tools and Adjust Treasury step of your turn. Yes, this makes the Granary much more useful (as it is intended to be).

We had a pretty heated argument about this in our game tonight. The rules as printed are totally unambiguous, but on the other hand one of our players (Jacob) was in a position to say "I've played this with Tom, and that's not how we did it." We went with the rules as printed, but I'm glad to hear that they're incorrect; as printed, the rule is very strange and fiddly.
