Well with all the fuss from Battlelore I thought that they wouldn't support Memoir '44. But what they say is that appart from the Air pack they are desining new expansions for the game and more; they are developing a PC version! Superb!!!
Only trouble is ... I was about to buy Battlelore because I really like the game, now I have two games I want to spent my money on. I am in front of a serious dilema here (multiple choise A: battlelore B: Memoir air pack C: both)
Nice interview, Scott. Not only did I learn some things about DoW, this was also the first I've heard about the upcoming "RoleplayGeek," or whatever it'll be called. How you find the time, I can't imagine, but keep up the good work.
Good news, it sounds like the Air Pack is actually more of a "Compendium Pack" bringing everything in the M'44 stable up to current developmental standards.
Interesting also to hear of the new modules, first, the long-awaited British expansion (with a North Africa focus, to boot!) and second, the intriguing "new stuff" expansion, which does not sound nation-specific.
I'm hoping this one might include dedicated heavy armor, but even more, that there might be one or more new categories of unit.
I'd love to see "Light/Recon" unit types. Imagine a motorized unit with Speed 4, innate Ambush capability, perhaps less staying power than Armor (two pieces rather than three, say) but with the ability to lunge ahead and grab a key piece of terrain in advance of the heavy forces.
Some more freewheeling mobility would be a fun addition. We'll see.
If anybody finds out what the British tank is going to be, please post the news! Please say it's a Crusader, pleasepleaseplease.......

That was my first thought as well. I'm happy to hear that the revamped scenario book will be utilizing the other expansions, which will increase their value as well. And overall, it's great to hear that not only is Memoir not dead, but with this expansion, DOW appears to be just getting warmed up for a busy couple of years!
I would also love an iTunes feed for these interviews - I'm enjoying them greatly so far.
First a big thank you to Aldie for these little treats of late. They are really informative and living in our southern 'backwater' of the world I appreciate hearing the voices of people in the industry.
The M44 announcement really is great news. I think a few people who bemoaned DoW's apparent 'dumping of Memoir for Battlelore' may be feeling a little sheepish.
For my money I think DoW is a smart operation. They realised that they needed to consolidate the system before they could push ahead and time was needed to do this. Of course money helps to...enter Battlelore.
I'd rather see this action (a pause in proceedings) than a sudden snap announcement that the company is going under due to poor strategic planning.
I am wrapped that Memoir is looking to push forth again in the coming months and years and the consolidation of scenarios and rule sets is excellent. Sometimes a system can die under its own weight. However these measures to bring it all together will minimise the headache.
My only problem now is that the pre-painted planes will make my non-painted minis look ordinary.
The PC version sounds sweet to. I've been waiting for this for a long time.

Not at all. We were disappointed with DoW because they had promised us the M'44 Official Carrying Case with Air Pack booklettwo years ago!
