I thought it would be time to upload a pic of my old Elfball field ( http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/244485). I'm now thinking about making a new one using Hex-fields.
Has somebody experience with the stencils from Litko ( http://www.litkoaero.com/page/LAI/PROD/GGT/GGT001)?
This would be a way to get a green field as the old one.
Another option would be using Mats from Chessex: http://chessex.com/mats/Battlemats_&_Megamats.htm
I have used them for a board I built for Monstern, but it looks not so good imho.

Yes. How is your made? It looks like a "paper or plastic frame" with the hex-grid and then flock in the hex-fields. What size have your hex?
Original it's 1 inch hex, so I'm thinking about the stencil and airbrush...

Hey Frank, hier mal auf deutsch 
Ich habe mir ein Blatt mit Hexfeldern in der passenden Größe ausgedruckt (auf dickerem Papier) dann die Felder ausgeschnitten und anschließend aufgeklebt. Als Unterlage diente die Rückseite eines alten Bilderrahmens.
Danach das ganze mit Chaos Black besprüht, die Abstände zwischen den Plättchen weiß angemalt und danach beflockt.
Jetzt fehlt halt nur noch das Drumherum aber ansonsten bin ich wirklich zufrieden.

Das habe ich mir fast gedacht.
Bei 21 Feldern Durchmesser und 1 Zoll Raster wird das ganz schön fieselig...
Vielleicht muß ich doch wieder mit CorelDRAW eine Plotterschablone erstellen und einen guten Bekannten nerven, der einen Schneideplotter Zuhause herumstehen hat.

Dann hast du das ganze halt nicht in 3D sondern nur aufgemalt. Für mich macht das schon einen Unterschied und sooo viel Arbeit war's nun auch nicht.
Ich bin auf jeden Fall mal gespannt auf die Ergebnisse

2 weeks ago I started with the new Elfball 2007 project. I want to have the custom made pitch ready for the gaming fair in Stuttgart/Germany (15.-18.11.2007) were I want to present this game together with Lines, who is making the German translation of the rules.
I decided to go ahead again using plotter templates. I created with CorelDRAW 2 templates. One for the hex grid and one for the white and yellow circles. I use 30mm instead of 1 inch hex grids, so the field is 70x70cm:
Next I built a wooden frame using 8mm poplar with a 7cm border. For the inlay I use 5cm Styrofoam:
Now I started to design the walls of the Bench and Recovery area. I sanded the Styrofoam and just used a lead pencil to carve the structure:
I fixed small magnets under all counter fields to avoid unintentionally movement of counters.
Now I finished the walls and the grass:
Using a cutting plotter I have now the 2 templates:
My wife helped me to fix the template A on the pitch:
and using an Airbrush I got the black hex fields:
Now the second template for the white and yellow lines:
Now the most exciting moment:
The circles match exactly the hex fields:
The bench area is ready:
For the Magic Potions I found old Asterix minis, which were included in chewing gum in my youth:
And finally I used the pitch to make demos at the fair in Stuttgart 2007:

Maybe I make it to Stuttgart again this year - if so I will surely say hello and have a game of Elfball. The Pit really looks great!

2. Dein Besuch hat uns gefreut.

By the way: I propose your awesome work with all those fantastic fantasy football pitches you made, should get you an entry on the Guinness Book of World Records as the person owning the most different fantasy football pitches.

Nun ja, ich arbeite im Jugendhaus Mitte - mitten in Stuttgart. Wir haben da einen Schneideplotter und einen Lasercutter und beginnen gerade damit, eine Spiele-Werkstatt zu etablieren ...
Nach den Herbstferien (also ab Dienstag, dem 06.11., Montags haben wir zu), bin ich wieder "im Dienst". Ruf`einfach mal an ... 29 79 36. Infos (noch ohne Spiele-Werkstatt): www.jugendhaus-mitte.de

Ich werde 4 Tage auf der Spielemesse in Stuttgart beim FSF e.V. Stand zufinden sein. Dort will ich Elfball, SpaceHulk und Bloodbowl präsentieren, incl. dem 3D-Hulk ( http://spacehulk.beckerf.de) und ein paar meiner Stadien ( http://bloodbowl.beckerf.de/html/stadiums.html , http://bloodbowl.beckerf.de/html/manuals.html).

Cool. Ich werde Do und So auf der Spielemesse sein und Flyer verteilen ... wir sehen uns da und quatschen mal (kurz), okay? Und von wegen Alter - du darfst ja nicht nur selber kommen, sondern durchaus auch jüngere auf uns aufmerksam machen ...

Auf alle Fälle! Besonders die Gravurgeschichte und das Plexiglasschneiden interessieren mich.
Der FSF e.V. hat ja auch das "Kreative Basteln" bei der Messe als Thema, wo ich z.B. mit den selbstgebastelten Stadien ins Spiel komme.
