(This is a picture of a frozen waterfall, from behind the waterfall)
Patrick D's session report mentions a few variants for the swap card, and that gave me an idea: when the swap card comes out, the person who pulled it could actually roll a die and the result could determine what swap happens!
Obviously, people can make up their own list of possible swaps - here's some of Patrick D's ideas plus some I came up with:
1: Everyone re-draws!
2: The player to the left & the player to the right of the swap player re-draw!
3: The swap player and the players to her left and right randomly swap animals!
4: Everyone passes their animal to the left!
5: (make up your own)
6: The swap player re-draws (the "normal" action)
When multiple players re-draw, all the animals are placed in the bag, then each person draws an animal.
When multiple players randomly swap animals, all of them place their animals in a bowl or empty bag, then each person draws an animal from the container.
(Thanks Patrick D for sparking this bit of creative silliness!)
If you have another variant use of the Swap card, feel free to add it as a reply!
How about... When the swap card is drawn, everyone passes his/her barn one to the left.
I haven't tried this -- just this second thought of it -- but it could be good for messing with people's minds...
