Flix Mix is a Cardgame for the whole Family. The 64 cards ( 4 sets with 16 cards each) show 6 colours that are arranged in different manner. 2 cards show some example pictures for the rulebook. In total there are once again 66 cards.
The goal of the game is to fit its cards on the cards already lying on the table. Playing time is aproximatly 20 minutes.
The cards are once again in the usual quality of an Adlung game. The grafic on the cards is very spartanic because each card shows only 6 dots with different colours.
The rulesbook is written in 4 languages (german, english, france and italian). It features 3 different variants for the game, Flix Mix - Mini (6 years), Flix Mix - Junior (7 years) and Flix Mix (8 years and up). The last variant is also the most interesting one:
The player with the blue deck becomes the first dealer and lays one of his cards faceup on the table. Now every player (even the dealer) tries to fit his cards simultanously on the cards lying on the table. The cards must be placed so that at least two dots are covered. You may not place different colours on top of one another. The table limits the playing area. The round ends when one player was able to place his last card on the table: Each card in the hand scores a negative point. Each card placed on a wrong card scores another two negative points. Then the card decks get reshuffled and the next player get the blue deck and becomes the new dealer. Once every player has played with each deck the game ends. The one with the least negative points wins the game.
This game draws its suspense from the fact that all players try to get their cards down simultanously. But it can loose its suspense easily, when players with different ability play this game. This is particularly true if you are playing with children. The Kid needs to be at least as fit as the adults. On the other hand this game can be much fun, if it is played solely by adults, with similar abilites. It could easily fit as Partygame. Another possibility could be when two players form a team (adult and child).
The game itself is very quick and can be played wherever there is a table with some free space on it. Important: Players should have the same Niveau, otherwise the game can drag. As simple as he game is rulewise, as easy it is to miss a card when playing under pressure of time.
That's it, there isn't more to it. This is a SMALL game. Maybe it shouldn't last longer, because younger children loose easily interest in games if the games lasts too long. If they still like to play longer, you can easily enhance the game by playing "Best of Three".
My counsel is to use it as fun filler or metagame in a party game.
All you need is a quick reaction and a sharp eye. Solid for what it is! A real small game.

Of course, in a game like this, flashy cards would be detrimental to the game play. After all, players must be able to recognise the patterns on the board as fast as possible. Simple cards make that easier.
I agree with you!

The coloured dots actually include the Adlung logo in fine detail. And the player colours don't clash with the dot colours either, and the card backs are marked to identify the players too, so I think they've done a very good job.
You are right!
The choosen colours and patterns are usefull for the gameplay! Still I think it looks quite spartanic!
