Here's a recap of the 3-player scenario we played recently -- Aarklash Pigeon.
To make it fair, we chose a triangle battlefield layout (yes, triangle!). I still don't like that idea -- even though it gave me an advantage and I won-- but it was all we could agree on as it gave everyone equal distance to the objective in the center and each other opponent. I believe the other option was a octagon, but we couldn't find a table large enough.
My list: warg 100pt predator 58pt tracker 35pt warrior 25pt x4 100pt great fang 32pt onyx 73pt 398pts
Opponent 1 on my left was Acheron: Gorgon, Azael, Wolfen zombies, skeleons, and some death knight calvary (sorry, I'm not fully familiar with all the units as I don't play much anymore)
Opponent 2 was Devourers on my right: The dark elf mage, a devourer hero and warriors, 2 devourer huntsmen/archers
Turn 1: I lost the initiative rolls (and to say retyping, I was last in all the turns). Terrain was placed randomly but everyone left the center clear. Basically we all just lined up along our edges for the setup.
I charged with most of my units towards the objective, but not actually claiming it. On the left flank I kept onyx and the tracker to screen Acheron, and the warriors I kept to the right against the Devourers though they stayed close to the center near the objective (I also knew that that the Devourer player would be mostly going against the Acheron player instead of me so I devoted less there).
My ploy was to make it seem like these warriors were going for the obj. The warg and pred I kept in the center.
The Gorgon cast this crazy spell that gave her the thing which can cast spells on its own and also regenerate mana on its own.
Other events in turn 1 included the Devourer huntsmen taking shots at the Gorgon. This is where the game was screwed up a bit : The Gorgon player didn't know his rules well and we trusted him, and used his artifact incorrectly (allows Gorgon to offset shooting damage to another minion). Basically it's not supposed to be able to used against high str damage like the arrows from the huntsmen, but we didn't realize this until turn 4 when the devourer player decided to read the artefact rules while we all waited for the Gorgon player to finsh her crazy spell combos . Anyhow, this is an issue as the huntsmen both made their shots but the Gorgon shrugged it off to the skeletons or ignored it.
Turn 2: The tracker was charged by the Archeron cav and it wasn't looking good - I didn't have Onyx facing the right direction so he couldn't charge to help out the tracker this turn. Plus I got them bunched up in a way that the warg also couldn't charge in. The Gorgen then unleashed the crazy spell which did insane damage based on how many skeletons were nearby and gave did serious wounds to the warg.
I ran my wolfen warriors on the Devourer side past the pigeon to create a screen and threw off the opponents a bit (I waited till my last activation to grab it).
The Devourer player moved his force a little, but mostly stayed put and was shooting at the Gorgon (again failing due to misuse of her artefact) and some other spellcasting.
Turn 3: I finally got my pred and onyx in against the Acheron cav but by this time the tracker was already lost. He also added the wolfen zombies to this melee. The warg charged some skeletons and smashed them, but was hit again but the Gorgon's spell.
Some of the wolfen warriors also charged the skeletons and zombies to allow the greater fang with the pigeon to clear out.
On the other Devourer front he finally charged my wolfen warrior screen with his warriors and moved his elf mage and Devourer hero towards my side to try to maneuver to my rear. Again he shot at the Gorgon but failed due to her talisman.
Turn 4: I attempted to run the fang out back to my starting zone, but he was shot at by the huntsmen and intercepted by another devourer and killed. Luckily for me when I rolled the scatter the pigeon went a little closer to my zone but also the extreme side of the devourers, which was fine because at this point the devourer player was still more intent on bashing on Acheron than me. I ran the predator away to get it.
The Warg was finally killed by Gorgon's spell. She also summoned a darkness elemental. My wolfen warriors were making good work of the skeletons but 2 of them failed the courage to charge Gorgon. The others were still locked in combat with devourers and skeletons.
Turn 5: I grabbed the pigeon with my pred. The elemental and cav came barreling after it, but the Devourer player cast a spell which hurt them if they moved so that helped me a bit. The Devourer champion charged the pred with the pigeon, but lucky for me he also charged the elemental with his other warriors which screened my predator from the elemental.
We finally figured out the correct rules of the Gorgon's artefact so now she was seriously wounded by the huntsmen.
On the other fronts, more of my wolfen warriors were getting killed but at least they were doing their duty of holding the line against the devourers and skeletons.
Turn 6: The predator fought the 2nd combat with the devourer champion and killed him (both this combat and the previous turn the devourer champion rolled all 's in attacks which spared my pred, who was at serious wounds). Gorgon was finally killed also.
In the end, I won the scenario due to victory points for holding the pigeon longest (and being the only), even though I lost the majority of my force and the others lost less (about 40% on the Acheron warband was killed and 25-33% of the Devourers).
