As kduke likes to say (
), there are A LOT of official CCA scenarios out, with all expansions and packs I have counted 92!!! (EDIT: check my latest posts in this thread for the actual number) They are split into 4 booklets, 2 C3i journals, and 2 bonus packs, with often interlocking periods... So not very easy to choose one, or even go through a period without changing booklets (Exp#2 and #3 mostly, but also some battles in the period 260-200 BC and not in the Punic Wars, for example).
I have gone through the list, and sorted them chronologically:
The battle name is color-coded by the booklet, the armies by the blocks used, and the star indicates the historical victor.
I had in mind the binder someone suggested at CSW, with pre-punched sleeves, so I scanned the scenarios for which I didn't have a pdf version (all expansions plus C3i), and now I'm going to print them and put them in sleeves into a binder.
But once the scan part of the work was done, I thought that a nice bonus to the list could be obtained by adding a "stamp-like" icon with the battlefield, just big enough to get a rough idea of what the battle looks like, and the number of victory banners:
Now you can look for a given period, or a terrain free battle, or a given number of banners (short/long battle) at a glance.
These pictures are low-res images I have uploaded to my gallery, could you please tell me any suggestion you may have before I upload the pdf file? Colors, sizes, other relevant parameters...
Thanks! Miguel

Nice work! The one thing that would make it slightly more convenient as a quick reference guide could be to include the page number of each scenario?

Thanks!
Uff, page number... People having 1st or 2nd Ed won't have the same one, for example, and it is not really needed for small bonus packs. I didn't think of this as a quick way to find one scenario, but more as an easy way to choose one. Once you did, you know the booklet in which it is and know the scenarios surrounding it in the booklet, so it won't be long to find.
The battlefield icons might be too small? It is not that hard for me, now that I have scanned them, to make them bigger, but I liked the idea of having all in one page: one for the list, one for the icons. Bigger icons would mean more pages, less compact, etc... But it is doable.

Miguel,
This is a great quick reference, thanks. And it looks like you'll have room to add the three new scenarios that are coming out in C3i 20.

Thanks for the GG, Eric!
When I saw they were 92, I thought that 50 per page would be good for the existing scenarios and the few that may come in the coming months as C3i/packs. When more than 8 will come out, I'll re-format the file, maybe 3 pages with bigger icons, but we're not there yet!

Thank you all!
I have just uploaded the file, in a few days it should be available (I don't have my own site as Alessandro ).
One thing I like about this list is, for example, how Clusium, Telamon and Clastidium can be played as an introduction to the base game Punic War battles (I hadn't realized before making the list!), or knowing that Raphia was fought while Hannibal was marching against Rome...

PS: I take the opportunity to "advertise" one other post I made yesterday, but that didn't go into Recent Additions, about an update of my "Simple TERRAIN+UNIT Reference Card":

Forgive my ignorance (I just purchased C&C:A not long ago), but where does one acquire the scenarios from the two C3i journals and the two bonus packs?
I assume that I'd have to buy the journals, but at $20 a piece, that seems like a lot just to get the scenarios...

"Bonus packs" are, by definition, something the maker puts out to encourage and reward customers for dong something-- in this case, it was pre-ordering CCA and pre-ordering the 1st Expansion.
While some companies really do limit bonuses only to people who fulfill the commitment at the time, on several occasions (and with other games as well) GMT has made bonus scenarios available later.
The base game originally came with 10 scenarios and pre-order folks got 3 more.
When GMT did the 2nd edition of the base game, they changed the structure of the rule book, included the 3 bonus scenarios in it, plus 2 more which even the pre-order folks had not seen. They posted the 15 scenarios for download. So the "good news' is, if your CCA says "second printing" out the outside (or came with 15 scenarios) you already have the first "bonus pack" included.
Greeks and Eastern also came with 3 bonus scenarios for pre-order, but I have not seen any postings of releasing those for download or for non-pre-order folks. It has been some time since Ex 1 came out-- you might ask GMT about that.
I understand that $20 per 3 scenarios seems pretty steep, but I think GMT just wants to add value to C3i any way they can. There are numerous add ons for a wide range of GMT games and it seems like many folks--myself included-- find themselves saying, "I wish I could get THAT but I'm not very interested in those other bits." If you have any gamer friends who might be interested in some of the bits that you aren't, that could help. I've seen nicer bits (large hex groups, new games, extra cards, etc.) for various games sold on BGG or ebay-- Unless someone wants to cut a magazine up, selling copies of the scenarios like that would get into some legal/ethical issues.
If you will check the GMT web site, c3i section, they often do post downloads of articles and scenarios there some time after publication. That does not help the folks who are looking for counters or variant bits, but something like a scenario could be accessible. I just took a look and the CCA scenarios have not been posted yet (and the issues are not sold out yet).
There has been some talk about creating a 3rd edition rule book/binder that might include all scenarios to date. I would hope "all" would include the c3i ones.

Thanks Kevin. I do indeed have the second printing, and I downloaded (and printed) the Truceless War scenarios. Truth be told, with the base game and the Truceless War, plus Expansions 2 and 3 arriving later this week, I think I'll have plenty to keep me busy for a long time!
But it sure would be nice to have some sort of anthology of all the scenarios, all in one nicely bound book/binder.

I was lucky enough I didn't pre-order the base game but I did pre-order Exp#1, so I got all bonus packs!

One question I had while making this list was the battles fought in the same year that were published in different booklets: Raphia/Trasimenus, Celtiberia/Metaurus and Po River/Great Plains. From what I could find, I guessed what the chronological order was, but if someone finds I was wrong, please tell me!

It may look more "professional" than it really was...
For the booklets with no PDF available, I scanned each scenario page, initially because I want to print all the scenario and put them in a binder with pre-punched sleeves (in chronological order, of course!). But once I had the JPG file for each scenario I just had to reduce the resolution (didn't want a huge file for the list) and crop the battlefield with Windows' Paint.
For the ones with PDF available, again very simple tools, screen capture of the battlefield and crop with Paint.

I have uploaded a second version of the list, adding my 15 home-made scenarios found in:
- Hellenica (5) - Sacred Band (5) - Greek Tragedy (5)
to the 92 official ones. The "official gaps" in the 5th and 4th centuries BC become more evident. I have just finished my binder, with 107 pages...

No big deal, I'll change it during the next update (C3i#20, for example...). Please tell me if you find others!
C3i 20 has been out for about a month. This C3i included scenarios for several games as individually printed scenario cards and not as pages in the magazine itself. Here is the new scenario info:
Cissa- 218 B.C. Carthage/Rome Iliturgi- 215 B.C. Carthage/Rome Castrum Album- 214 B.C. Carthage/Rome
Additionally Agrigentum-262 B.C. Carthage/Rome from C3i18 was reprinted in color on the back of one of the new scenario cards (since there were an odd number of new scenarios)

I'm looking forward to the new file as soon as you post it. I took a look at the first expansion, which I got in trade, and was overjoyed to find that it contained Bonus Pack #2 and C3i Nr 20! Now I just need the scenarios from Nrs 18 and 19, although I'm not terribly keen on paying a ton for them.
In any case, great work on all this!

I did months ago, but only today I found the time to take a picture:
I put the list inside the first sleeve, and then the scenarios in order. So easy to use now, you choose your battle, you take the sleeve out of the binder, you play!

PS: Each sleeve has the upper half of the scenario on the front and the lower half on the back, it takes less space on the table beside the board...
