Whew! What a day! I taught a 3 hour workshop at the University, watched my team win their (American) football game, had a student film audition, burnt the pizza, and now I'm heading out for a date to a comedy show. No time for games today unfortunately.

I have not watched any of the Pacific yet, but I read on the back about it and one of the main characters is Eugene Sledge. I recognised that name straight away as I also have Ken Burns The War and he is in that a lot.

Thanks Larry, no message needed.

They were trying to do it differently, but it didn't work out--all the way out to 50 years.

I never played board wargames when I was younger, I didn't know they existed. I did however play SSI games on my Atari XL in the 80's, does that count?

And do tabletop games like Warhammer 40k, Flames of War, Warmachine, etc. count?

And if you are a Warhammer fan, look what Rune has done now...

What I love is reading all of the posts from the beginning. Watching as some come and go, and others who have been here, close to the beginning, remain. Seems like a long time ago when it began (especially when reading every post) but then realizing that some of it was but one year ago.

Well done. What was it that Buzz Light Year use to say?

I LOVE Blade Runner the film and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Tough Harrison and PK Dick, doesn't get much better than that. If you like that kind of thing, read Ubik and the Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch.

ATARI XL!!?? We keep having more and more in common Alysa! I loved my Atari 2600, then the 800 was my first computer. I 'upgraded' to an 800 XL in high school. Loved playing Ultima IV and Silent Service (WWII submarine game)!!

We had a great hike yesterday. We climbed up into the mountains that are west of Kunming and very near our college. It was a bit foggy in the morning so the views were obscured but by the afternoon a breeze blew through and it ended up a beautiful day.

One of the highlights for me was hearing bells approaching and down the thick path some water buffalo came into view. We stepped aside and they slowly walked by, being herded gently forward by a farmer.

We climbed for a couple of hours and ate at a restaurant up in the mountains. It was a beautiful day and we ate outside in the sunshine.
We had a much better view as we made our way back down and I saw the nuclear power plant to the north of our college! I hope quality control is good there!! surprisesurprisesurprise

I have a cold today so I’m missing the Sunday morning activities...Hopefully it’ll be better soon because there really aren’t sick days here. You just push through, like the post office!

Right TR?
