Just wanted to say thank you to all the folks on BGG! Our first print run of Galactic Emperor has nearly sold out. I'm starting up a second print run soon, so no need to panic.

Congrats, must be a cool feeling to see your game sell out so quickly!

Edit: BTW, Nice name!

My first thought when I read this was...wait...how could this be...I haven't even seen any stores offer this game yet...(as in they have it in stock), flgs or online.

Then I read in the other posts that they should get to the retail stores around the 21st and had much relief.

Excellent news, well done Mr West!
Now if only my preordered copy would arrive in the mail...

Will there be any changes in the 2nd print run?

In particular is there any chance to tweek the color of the blue cubes on the planet hexes or perhaps outline them in white? It is hard to tell from across the room how many metal are available on a hex.

There will be some changes. Here's what we've decided so far:
1. The cardboard will be over twice as thick.
2. The reference cards will be reworked for clarity.
3. The linen finish will be changed to a more 'standard' finish.
4. The insert will be changed.
5. Minor corrections to some text (maybe).

I'll consider the outline around the cubes - it's been mentioned before.

Well, in some ways I feel bad to have the first run if there are improvements to the components (especially making the cardboard thicker), although if you're changing the finish to the pieces, then that's enough to make me happy to have the edition I have. Why the change to the finish? The linen finish was probably the part of the components that impressed me the most.

I'm still learning about materials for games and if I can continue to improve the quality, I'm going to try to do so. I can certainly provide the boards with the thicker material to those who bought the first run! The finish is being considered because of pricing and look.

I'm happy to hear that you're changing the components of the game for the second print run. The game's components left my group completely and absolutely underwhelmed, especially the thickness of the cardboard.

From a physical perspective, after one play ...
- the map is lifting in sections from weak glue
- the sector tiles are showing wear in the corners!
- some sector tiles are printed/punched off-center

Furthermore, even before play, our set was missing one white fighter (and yegods, do we *really* need ships this large so that our fleets overflow into the surrounding three hexes?!), some of the resource cubes aren't exactly "cubes" (irregular, random), and the writing is difficult to read (font/colour-scheme) for the techs and role cards when the cards are at a distance.

The printed sheets almost didn't survive punching, and I after playing one game the hexes aren't going to survive multiple plays in a flat enough state to make playing in the future feasible. They're warping, and spinning, already. For a map-game where the hexes *are* the map, that is completely silly and annoying. At least hex-facing isn't a game mechanic!

Frankly, I am extremely disappointed in my pre-ordered copy. I'm going to have to spend time and money to make components to make it play-able, which I hate doing when I've spent serious coin on a brand new game. But then again, I was an early adopter, and knew there was a risk when I jumped in.

Sounds like you might have received a bad copy. The cardboard thickness will not be changed, but I can perhaps help with the rest of it. Please e-mail me and we'll talk it over.

While I didn't have any of the other problems, this one I did have a bit. Not enough to hurt anything as long as I'm careful with the board, but at one of the bends, the map is lifting a little bit from the cardboard. Definitely something you might want to look into a bit, Adam.

What am I missing? In a prior post in this thread you said the cardboard would be twice as thick. Now you seem to be saying it won't be changed.

Huh?

There's a difference between "What will happen in future printings" and "What Adam can send out immediately as a replacement."

Sorry for the confusion. The second print run will have thicker cardboard.
