Here;s one of our playtest reports for the upcoming GODZILLA game . . . it uses some shorthand the testers are used to: Levels refer to size of building (4 is skyscraper); I{ refers to Initiative Points, gained from destroying buildings and locals; C13, etc.m refers to the square on the board; ATT CT refers to body damage taken by Attacker or Defender . . . .etc etc This game pitted Godzilla and Rodan against Gigan and Ghidorah, the latter doing quite well . . . (mostly, i felt, because of better play tactics . . . who knows?)

RHB

Turn 1
Gigan enters at E16, moves to E15, E14, destroys level 2 in E13 and a
Level 2 in F13, moves to G13.

Godzilla enters at H1, moves to H2, H3, tramples a soldier in H4,
moves to H5, H6, tramples a soldier in H7, ends in H8.

IP's: Gigan 8, Godzilla 0.
Hits: none.

Turn 2

Gigan destroys a level 4 in G12, destroys a level in F12.
Godzilla moves through roads H9, H10 (tank fire dr 2, miss), G10, G11
(tank fire dr 1, miss), F11, attacks Gigan.
Godzilla: size/strength vs. body defenses, dr3 = ATT CT, damage dr3 =
two hits on Godzilla.
Godzilla: claw/bite vs. avoid, dr2 = Def escape.
Godzilla: size/strength vs. body defenses, dr2 = ATT CT, damage dr5 =
three hits on Godzilla
(Godzilla player: "Oft go astray, my ASS!")

IP's: Gigan 22 (draws special card, anti-energy bacteria), Godzilla 0.
Hits: Godzilla 5, Gigan 0.

Turn 3
Gigan destroys a level 4 building in E12 (Hello, Ghidorah), moves to
E11, attacks Godzilla.
Gigan: claw/bite vs. repel, dr2 = ATT ST, damage dr1 = one hit on
Gigan.
Gigan: aerial slam vs. size/strength (with -1 dr modifier), dr4-1, dr3
= grapple, one hit each.

(Godzilla now at six hits, Gigan at two)

Godzilla attacks Gigan, eight AP's remaining after using two AP's in
previous combat.
Godzilla: size/strength vs. body defenses, dr5 = DEF ST, damage dr4 =
two hits on Gigan.
Godzilla: throw object vs. size/strength, dr1 = ATT KD, one hit on
Godzilla, spends one AP to stand up.
Godzilla: size/strength vs. claw/bite, dr6= DEF KD, Gigan one hit, and
can't get back up.
Godzilla moves to G11
Godzilla recovery: dr3+1 = four hits recovered.
Godzilla moves back to F11

IP's: Gigan 32, Godzilla 0.
Hits: Gigan six, Godzilla 3.

Turn 4.
Gigan attacks Godzilla (probably should have moved back for recovery)
Gigan: aerial slam vs. repel (offsetting modifiers in each round),
dr4= DEF ST, damage dr2 = one hit on Godzilla
Gigan: claw/bite vs. size/strength, dr3 = grapple, one hit each.
Gigan: aerial slam vs. repel, dr5 = DEF KD, one hit Godzilla, he gets
back up.
Gigan: claw/bite vs. size/strength, dr5 = DEF CT, damage dr1 = one hit
on Godzilla.

Godzilla (5 AP's remaining) moves one square back, recovery dr2+1 =
three hits recovered, moves back adjacent to Gigan, attacks.
Godzilla: size/strength vs avoid, dr6-1, dr5 = DEF ST, damage dr2 =
one hit on Gigan.

Ghidorah lands at K8, destroys level 3 at J8, level 4 at I8
(Must Ghidorah enter from an edge square, or can he enter at any spot
on board? If so, should it count against the number of times he can
fly?)

IP's: Gigan 32, Ghidorah 16 (48 total, draw electricity special card),
Godzilla 0.
Hits: Gigan 6, Godzilla 4.

Turn 5

Gigan attacks Godzilla
Gigan: aerial slam vs repel (modifiers offset throughout), dr5 = DEF
KD, one hit on Godzilla, who gets up
Gigan: claw/bite vs. size/strength, dr4 = DEF CT, damage dr 2 = one
hit on Godzilla.
Gigan: aerial slam vs. repel, dr6 = KD, one hit on Godzilla, who gets
up.
Gigan: claw/bite vs. size.strength, dr4 = DEF CT, damage dr3 = two
hits on Godzilla.
Gigan: aerial slam vs. repel, dr2 = ATT ST, damage dr1 = one hit on
Gigan.

Godzilla: moves to G10 (tank fire d3, miss), recovery (dr2+1 = three
hits recovered), buys special card (kaiju absorbs electricity),
destroys tank in H10, moves to H9.

(thinking is Godzilla will approach Ghidorah, who is more vulnerable
to Godzilla's fire attack, while Rodan will finish Gigan)

Ghidorah destroys a level 4 building. (I9), flies to J1.

Rodan lands at E12 (We felt, hey, he's a flying monster, he can enter
at any board square, and we'll count it against his flying total).
Rodan attacks Gigan
Rodan: mouth winds vs. body defenses, dr6 = DEF KD, one hit on Gigan,
who uses last AP to get up.
Rodan: claw/bite vs. avoid, dr2 = DEF escape.
Rodan: mouth winds vs. size/strength, dr2+1, dr3 = grapple, one hit
each.
Rodan: size/strength vs. avoid, dr3 = escape.
Rodan: mouth winds vs. body defenses, dr4+1, dr5 = DEF KD, one hit on
Gigan.
Rodan: claw/bite vs. avoid, dr6 = DEF CT, damage dr4 = two hits, Gigan
dies.

(Afterwards, felt we should have charged Rodan three AP's for flying
onto board, but it wouldn't have effected this game's outcome).

IP's: Gigan 32, Ghidorah 26 (58 total),
Hits: Godzilla 7, Rodan 1.

Turn 6
Godzilla moves down roads H8, H7, H6, H5, H4, fires at Ghidorah in J1.
dr5= two hits.

Ghidorah flies to D7, destroys level 4 in D8.

Rodan flies to D7, attacks Ghidorah.
Rodan: mouth winds vs. repel, dr4 = DEF ST, damage dr2 = one hit on
Ghidorah.
Rodan: size/strength vs. size/strength, dr2 = ATT ST, damage dr3 = two
hits on Rodan.
Rodan: mouth winds vs. avoid, dr4+1, dr5 = DEF KD, one hit on
Ghidorah.
Rodan: claw/bite vs. vclaw/bite, dr1 = ATT CT, damage dr4 = two hits
on Rodan.

IP's: Gigan/Ghidorah 68, Godzilla/Rodan 0.
Hits: Godzilla 7, Rodan 5, Ghidorah 4.

Turn 7.

Godzilla can't reach Ghidorah on this turn (didn't think of using
flight option, as, really, there didn't seem to be any way to steer
around buildings), Ghidorah flies away from Rodan, lands next to Level
4 building, destroys it for 78 IP's.

NO. M'LYPSE does not have the actual Toho movie monsters/kaiju . . . and it is far more complex (and expensive) than GODZILLA is/will be . . . (I make no claims as to how good/bad/indifferent M'LYPSE is . . . there is more than one good game on any given subject.)

Okay, makes sense. I'll check this out once it's available...it can't hurt to have several monster games out there.

Seeing as I was the Godzilla/Rodan player in this playtest ... I think you nailed it.

That's like saying there can only be one game with Pirates, Farmers, Dragons, or Knights in it. I welcome more of this little represented theme! Thank you!laugh

Playtesting was done with any combination of Kaiju and/or military units (well, I doubt anyone played military vs military with no Kaiju...) Teams of Kaiju were also tested.
