According to Dale Yu at Boardgamenews:
"I predict that on Wednesday morning, it will be announced that FRED Distribution will have the distribution rights for Age of Steam. I have been told on good authority that Mr. Bohrer will have a press conference sometime Weds. morning here in Essen telling the public of this news. If it can be confirmed, I’m sure that our fearless leader, Eric Martin, will have a more official piece on this in the news section."

A big Essen for AoS then, with a preview of Steam expected too.

You know, if Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization, essentially a card game with some extra bits, retails for $70, what's the MSRP going to be for the reprint, $125?

So if Bohrer reprints this does Wallace get any money out of it?

It still looks like it's going to get a major facelift. New art, upgraded components, it will be interesting to see what it will look like.

This is not a bad deal. While FRED doesn't have the largest or most thorough distribution network, they are plugged into both the American and European channels. It is a great step towards broad availability of the game.

I saw a mock up of the box at Essen. According to the picture on the back of the box it has plastic trains similar to the ones in Railroad Tycoon. I wasn't overly taken by the cover art, but this is hardly important.

Quote: The FRED edition of Age of Steam has been placed in a holding pattern for now. More word on that when the ground below clears.
Not sure what's up, but interesting. I'm pretty sure I'm going with the Mayfair version anyway.
