I've update the first message of this thread to include a link to the app, and a link to post feature requests.
The app is available here: http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/stat?id=Smq3RC8yf5I&offe...
To request features, and report bugs go here: http://code.google.com/p/bggiphone/
Okay, now what you see is the original message.
I'm creating an iPhone application that allows you to interact with Board Game Geek. I'm intending to give this app away for free on the apple app store. I have a working version, but I am not done yet, and I would like to hear your thoughts on features that you would like to see in the app.
What is your MUST have feature for launch?
Here are screen shots from the current version: main menu:
click on owned:
click on Agricola
click on Actions tab
Also, if you have graphic skills, I need the following images: - icon for the app, 512x512 jpeg - icon for the board game "Info" tab, 24x24 png w/ background alpha - icon for the board game "Actions" tab, 24x24 png w/ background alpha background - icon for the board game "Stats" tab, 24x24 png w/ background alpha background
Thanks for your help!

Looks good, entering plays would be the #1 item, I think.
How does it handle logging in to your account? Do it yourself beforehand?

On the settings screen you enter your username and password. You only have to provide your password if you want to save changes, if you just provide your username it can look at your collection and wish list.

Need to be able to go to games pages and look for Rules/FAQ etc etc.
Recording played game and owned would also be key, but it looks like you have that.

Can you even do that with the existing public BGG API? I thought it was a pull data only.

The WAP version of BGG does record plays- so it is possible. Is it permissible? I guess I'll find out soon

Obligatory "Where's the android version?" post?
Not that I have either, but if I did, it probably wouldn't be iPhone due to cost. That's money I could be buying games with!
Still, looks very cool.
If you can record plays, you should be able to do it for more than just what's in your collection, in case you're a leech like myself that plays other people's games.

I don't have a G1, but who knows maybe I'll make Android version, and get people to beta test this out for me. For now though I'll focus on what I have and what I know.

BGG is actually completely accessible through the iPhone's Safari web browser, but a BGG specific app would make all of this much smoother. More often than not, BGG is so heavy and such a hassle on the iPhone i rarely bother.
Logging plays are my number 1 concern, as well. Next to that would be browsing forums, specifically rules forums Being able to look up a game from the main BGG App interface would aid this greatly.

Some updates.
I got icons and graphic help from bkelley. THANKS!
People were asking about how the username is provided.. This is what happens if you try with you it (takes you to settings and barks at you):
This is the newly minted stats page, with bkelley's sweet icons:
does that look like enough stats? Want more? std dev?
Here is the app icon:
I'm for sure going to make it so you can record plays.
I think the features left to do are: - record a play - on/off wishlist - on/off own - cache results (right now there is no caching)
After that maybe release?
The other feature that I thought would be good is the "rules" question feature... I am wondering how best to make that work? Would I just do a forum view on the "rules" forum for a game?
I assume I'd put "rules" on its own tab... Brian you have another tab icon up your sleeve?

It would be nice to be able to view geek lists in an iphone / itouch friendly manor. Via the Safari web browser bgg has such a large number of scattered links that it is hard to find a space to scroll the screen without clicking on something.
I would have appreciated this app while walking around Essen.

YES. Geeklists are very clunky on iPhone/Safari. This would rock.

I don't have an iphone, and probably won't be getting one, but I love the idea of apps like these, especially when the creator is doing it for reasons other than monetary reward.
Thanks and well done.

Every iPod app needs a hook, so I just thought of a potential new feature for ya...
Shake to randomly choose a game to play from your collection
The cover thumbnails could be tumbling around the screen as you shake, and then when you stop, it zooms in and fills the screen with your choice.

Ironically this thread keeps crashing Safari on my iPhone. I guess that just adds to the justification for this app.
