Rio Grande Games and BoardGameGeek are pleased to announce that the English version of the "Envoy" card for Dominion will be available exclusively from BoardGameGeek in early 2009. Each pack will contain 11 copies of the Envoy card (10 Kingdom cards and 1 placeholder card) for use in the English version of Dominion.
The cards will be available worldwide, although we expect the card will be available through foreign partners in their local languages.
There will be a shipping and handling fee of approximately $5 per set in the US. We at BoardGameGeek are very grateful to Jay and Rio Grande Games for giving us the opportunity to make these cards available to everyone.
Preordering will most likely take place using the BGG store system: http://store.boardgamegeek.com
I'll post another announcement when we're ready to take orders.

I second that question - what's an Envoy card and how much will this cost?

I hope not. I'd prefer these were available to the public at large instead of those content to pay scalpers on eBay.

Jay said that he does not intend this to be limited in nature at all. It will (effectively) always be available - there will never be a scarcity that drives an eBay marketplace. If that's true, I don't see a problem with multiple-set orderers - generally speaking, it'd probably be several members of the same game group trying to save on shipping costs rather than each one paying for a separately-shipped package. Anyone who does try to load up on quantity for eBay would hopefully see themselves eating a loss as RGG keeps the supply high enough that there's never a market for it on eBay.

This is very good news. However, there may well be an initial scarcity if the first stock amount is taken by multiple-pack buyers. I think a limited one/two packs per person should be agreed for the first couple of weeks to give more of the population a chance to try the new cards. Thereafter, restrictions could be lifted.

Well, my question is more towards BGG landing an exclusive deal...
Any more deals like this in the works? Would you be working only with Rio Grande, or with other companies?
Basically, is this a one shot deal, or are there plans for BGG to become more of a distributor?

Wow. Considering it is the same price as the Smithy, that sounds a *lot* more powerful.

Except with a Smithy you have a much better chance of getting a Gold card into your hand.

How can I get these when the time comes... or insure that I will get them?
I miss things like Z-decks and Animeeples all the time, and then become obsessed with how to find them after the fact.
Now, if you could get Spielbox printed in English, and available for subscription via BGG, I would be speechless (which would please many).

Can someone give some info or a link to info for noobs? Is this just a 1 card mini-expansion? Or a wide release of a promo card?
