It's been another banner year for BoardGameGeek. Thanks to everyone who has contributed and supported the site. Here are some end of the year stats for 2008. The percentages are compared with last year.

Congratulations on another successful year at BGG.
I was amazed that you can tell what the screen resolution is for users.
At what detail can you track the activity of indvidual users?

Pretty much any tracker can get that.
I was wondering what the country stats were though. Or are countries besides the U.S. that are so underrepresented that it is irrelevant to show that data?

I didn't think there was that big a rift between the US and other countries (I was thinking at least Canada or Australia to be a close second).

In terms of population density (i.e. BGGeeks per head of population).
Canada (with about 1 in 2000) comes out ahead of the USA (with about 1 in 2500).
Does this make Canada the most geek concentrated nation?
(population data from the CIA world fact book, geek data from the proportion and number of registered users above)
** As for the surge in visitors at the end of January, wasn't that when the English version of Agricola came out?
Good work, Aldie

That's probably due to the release of the Black Ops Risk and the mass-market revised version.
I can't find the stats from 2007, but in 2006 Risk was the 21st most searched game that brought people here. It was out-ranked by Settlers and Carcassonne but also bested by the ever popular Pictionary, Mad Gab, and "Sex Games."

Does this make Canada the most geek concentrated nation? [/q] I went from the number of visitors, not registered users, and that makes that 1 out of 227.54 Belgians have visited the site last year. Off course, many have visited the site more than once, but the difference with your 1 in 2000 is quite big any way

Surya - Good point -
It says 1.10% are in Belgium - but 1.10% of what. Is it the registered users or is it the unique visitors?
I'm thinking that only registered users are true BGGs - but maybe there is a silent majority (of over 8 million), who like to come here to read about games, but don't want to register.
