Enter Now: www.boardgamegeek.com/contest/smallworld
Current Leaderboard: www.boardgamegeek.com/contest/smallworld/leaderboard
There are 14 different races scrambling to survive in the unforgiving lands of Small World, but only one can hope to rise to the top in this brutal landgrab!
You now have a chance to help your favorite race rise to dominance and gain everlasting (or is it ever-fleeting) glory - and win a corresponding Small World bumper sticker to boot.
Even better, if you are one of the first 10 participants to correctly predict the top 3 races, you will win a free copy of Small World, the new board game from Days of Wonder! Here's how it works...
Now through February 18, 2009 Days of Wonder and BoardGameGeek are running a Small World character popularity contest between the 14 races that were recently previewed on www.daysofwonder.com.
You have a single chance to vote for the character you think deserves to be the top race (or at least the one you believe other voters will pick as the most popular). In addition to voting for your favorite, you will also make two more selections to choose the races you predict will end up 2nd and 3rd most popular.
Participants who vote for the race that rises to the top and has the MOST top race votes when the contest ends will be the proud recipient of a Small World Bumper Sticker/Decal featuring the winning race (available around the time the game ships)! (In the very unlikely event of a tie for top race, we will issue a sticker for both top races)
Even better, if in addition to picking the winning race, you also are one of the first 10 participants to correctly predict which races end up as the #2 and #3 races (i.e. the 2nd and 3rd race to collect the most votes from contestants as their top pick), you will also win a free copy of Small World!
Here's the kicker (and what makes the voting dynamics really interesting)... The current vote totals are visible in real-time to other entrants, so you can see how each race stands before you vote. The longer you wait to vote, the more likely you are to correctly guess which Race might rise to the top (and to the all important #2 and # 3 slots). But if you wait too long, the more likely you are to lose out on the chance to win a copy of Small World since other participants will likely have made the same "correct" votes earlier.
Thus it may be a good strategy to vote early and then lobby, cajole (and bribe?!) all of your friends to come vote for the same races you voted for, in the hope that they can help your picks rise to the top!
You should also lobby your local game store to enter a vote in the contest (North American retailers must register their vote with their Sales Rep at Alliance Distributors, while European retailers must contact Days of Wonder's sales office directly via email at: eu-sales (at) daysofwonder.com) - but try to convince them to vote your way because each retailer that enters the contest carries not one, but ten votes! (Note: Retailers are competing for different prizes and will not be eligible for any of the prizes given away on BoardGameGeek.)
So evaluate which races are the most likely to come out on top, go ahead and vote, then make sure you campaign hard for your favorites. Just remember - It's a Small World after all!

ATTENTION EVERYBODY! This is ALLDIE! (if you don´t do as I say) speaking!
The contest format quickly proved to be way too complicated for the average BGG user, so the rules have been slightly changed for your convenience. To have a chance to win, simply join the contest and enter the following picks:
#1 Amazons #2 Ghouls #3 Orcs
Thank you!
EDIT: I just browsed through all of the replies in this thread, and unless some of you are joking right back at me, it seems at least a couple of people were mislead by my post, which was PRETTY OBVIOUSLY A JOKE! (At least I think I gave plenty of hints...) I apologize for any inconvenience, and really hope I haven´t ruined anything for anybody!

Trolls rule !!!
They're slow and lumbering, but in the end they usually take the world over (especially if it's a puny little one)

Doesnt seem to be working for me. I get to the point where I preview my picks and theres no way to submit them.

There's no button underneath the preview to save your vote?
Update: I found a small glitch - vote now!

Nope. Not for me. =( Really wanted to win this one, too.

But FYI...might just be me, but about half the race pictures were not loading either.

Yep, like I predicted Im already passed up for the first 10 on Amazons. When I first attempted to enter it was only at 7 picks. My second were Tritons and then Ghouls. =( Been waiting for this contest to start, too.

You're definitely misunderstanding the rules.

Yeah, I was. I read about the contest a bit back so when I saw it was up I just ripped into it like a monkey on a cupcake.

Looks like a group needs to get together and form an anti-Amazons campaign to screw over these early voters.

Wait....when you say "boobs on BGG" are you referring to US or the lady bits?

Who gets a "point" in the leaderboard ? Only the one you voted for as #1, or also #2 and #3 ?

Which I bet will happen fast... and probably several times to different races who gain the lead.

Let's go for it. I say let's all vote for Tritons for #1 ("what do you mean, Tritons are number 1?!!!")
In addition, some of the pictures are not showing for me on the leaderboard page. Adding the race's name in text would help.

Yes, but the trolls are way cuter, and that bag could be mistaken for a (sagging) boob. So vote for the Trolls (and more importantly campaign for them with your local retailer - 10 votes increments is the way to go in this race ;-)).
