Sounds like a really good show (I like the 19 games in 19 minutes idea).

Yay -- I'm about to pick a lot of fun at Age of Steam in a Geeklist, though. I hope that doesn't preclude me from winning the contest.

I also like the 19 games in 19 minutes. duck duck go sounds interesting.

I didn't get an auto-response email when I entered the contest this time. I wonder if my email went through.

Has anyone been able to find the dice tower logo on Fred Distribution's website yet for this episode's contest? I looked for a while yesterday and could not find it. I'm not asking for someone to tell me were it is, but it would be great to get a confirmation that the logo is there somewhere.

Tom,

You need to revisit Genoa, which is easily one of the best trading games in existence...much better than Chinatown IMO.

Also, Oltre Mare is a solid trading game that gets overlooked.

I second that. Great little game that remind me of a grown-up version of Bohnanza.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. I'm pretty sure I've looked on every page once.

Get rid of Parthenon (doesn't deserve to be on any list except for steaming piles). Squeeze in Traders of Genoa and Oltremare.

Nice job including Wealth of Nations.

Senji has trading in it as well. In fact, it encourages you to leave the table to negoiate and trade cards with other players. And what other game allows you to trade away members of your own family?members?

This episode got me to thinking...

are there really so few decent trading games out there ? Surely the gaming world is full of themes around trading in the Med ?
I guess most of them are about trading but not really trading games. ie it is the theme and not the mechanic.

Fascinating.

Many of the games listed in the Top Ten, I really would not consider trading games. Colosseum ? yes, there's some trading but I'm not sure I would think of it as a trading game.

I tried to think of games I would have put in the list, instead, and found myself drawing a blank - with the obvious glaring omission of Traders of Genoa (noted mulitple times above and seconded by me).

hmmm... a truly untapped mechanic right under our noses ?

I'd be interested to hear Geoff's Top Ten on this one.

Great show, guys,
"Sahne" is the German word for Cream, by the way. Promounced "ZAAR-NEH".
ish.

I did not find a logo on the FRED distribution site. However, I did find the logo on the Eagle Games site. Perhaps there was a mixup?

Re: the top 10 trading games:

I was glad to hear Pit included. Frantic, loud fun.
I am a bit surprised that Civilization (or Advanced Civ) was left off the list. I haven't played the game, but the idea of trading hidden items (possibly including disasters) just sounds fun to me.

First of all - YES, it's the Eagle site. My apologies for messing that up - and I will mention it in the next episode again.

Secondly, I didn't include Traders of Genoa because I just don't like it that much. It's merely okay.

Haven't played Civilization (and have no desire to), and Oltremare is quite boring.

But 7 Ages has a really cool trading mechanic - and it would have made the list had I thought of it.
