Battlefront is telling customers that one of their products has been delayed due to the bankruptcy of the American printer of the game box and board - a company that they describe as "one of the worlds largest game manufactures" - that went out of business on January 5th and is evidently in some kind of receivership/bankruptcy situation.
Does anyone know what this company was? Is this going to have an impact on other game products?

It was probably DeLano. Here's the story.

I know Delano ran into trouble around that time and is in the process of restructuring (I believe under bankruptcy protection). That would be my guess of who's being referred to, at any rate.
Edit: That Clark fellow's got fast fingers, dammit.

I heard it was DeLano as well http://www.allegannews.com/articles/2009/01/22/local_news/2....,
I think Avalanche Press Ltd. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgamepublisher/142 had some of their game releases delayed http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/375854 and had to redistribute the work to another printer.

Sorry to hear about that. On a side note, can someone point me to a list of other manufacturers/printers who do board games as Delano does.

Here's a more recent article on Delano. It doesn't sound good:

I think there were two and maybe three wargame companies affected. I do not recall the other two (after Avalanche Press).
Best wishes to al involved.

GMT had to delay The Halls of Montezuma due to card printer closing its doors in the middle of production. Was never confirmed as far as I can remember as Delano, but the timing was very close. So I suspect GMT was one of the impacted companies.

At the New York Toy Fair, I did hear from a few other small companies that were impacted. Without going into specifics, it's had a big impact due to the sudden closure, and people are scrambling to figure out what to do next. I feel bad for these companies since they are running on fairly tight margins.

Yes it was. Their delay wasn't as long as they expected however as I believe they originally said it would be delayed until early April but now it seems it ships on Monday.

DeLano isn't closed, but it isn't accepting new orders (exept from really large customers), pending sale of the company. There's a skeleton crew in to finish out orders that were in process (like Battlefront's campaign game and GMT's cards).
I'm still checking my mail over there and you can PM me here with any questions. You can also check out http://www.imagigrafx.com, my new home. We're honoring DeLano quotes and I am working really hard to provide continuity of service to customers who were affected by the shutdown at DeLano.
Sincerely,
Ben Clark Director of Game Development Imagigrafx Games (formerly Director of Game Development at DeLano)
