Don’t get frightened of all this text. In order to create a fun (?) and unique solitaire, I need these rules.
Hopefully this kind of gameplay will inspire you to create a multiplayer variant of this game. Actually, my rules might work as a two player variant if you improvise a bit.
I wanted to create a solitaire version where you get some competition. Your goal is to starve your enemy tribe to death. As one tribe is defeated, another stronger will appear and take over the previous one. Once you have defeated all three tribes, the game ends, and you win if you have the most victory points. If you die, you lose.
The other tribe will always make the same choices as you do. So if you go for stone, the other tribe will try to steal it from you.

SETUP
The setup should look like this:

You must use the exactly same cards as the picture shows. Notice that some cards have things on them.

Huts
Remove all ?-huts (huts with no predefined value). Do also remove the three huts shown on the picture:

Now, organize them in 4 stacks. The first stack should include all 11vp and 12vp huts…
1 = all 11 and 12
2 = all 13
3 = all 14
4 = one 15 and one 16
Consequently, the first stack will include 5 huts, the second will include 4 huts and so on.
Prepare two individual boards, one for you (green) and one for your opponent (yellow). Start with 4 meeples each. Put both victory markers on ZERO and both food markers on FOUR.

GAMEPLAY RULES
Start the game by placing out your workers. You can only place out ONE worker on each area. (Even in the lovers hut.) You can NOT place any workers on the cards or the hut stacks.
When you are ready it is time to place out the workers of your opponent. Yellow will put a worker on all places you have put one, except the farm and axe (only room for one).
If there is a yellow worker left over, put her on an empty resource field. (wood, clay, stone, gold) If there are no empty resource fields, chose one that will contain two yellow workers.
Do the same if you have a larger amount of workers than yellow.

Let’s say you have workers on all 4 resource fields and yellow only have 2 left to be put in the resource fields. You may choose which two fields to put yellow. You will stand alone on the other two fields.

Hunting
Every time you put a worker here, yellow must be here to. Now you have to choose which kind of food you would like to gather. Berries, mushrooms or fish. In the beginning of the game it’s only possible to pick berries, so let’s put your worker on top of the berries-pile. Roll a die. The number shows how many berries you will gather. The rest is left over for Yellow. So you better roll a high number, otherwise yellow will get a lot of food. Axes can be used to increase your role as in the real game. If you choose to fish and roll lower than 5, you won’t get any fish at all, and yellow will get 5.
5 is required for the fish coin, and 2 is required for each mushroom coin.
So choose wisely.

Gather resources
1 vs. 1: As in the real game, you need at least 6 to get a gold, 5 to get stone, 4 for clay and 3 for wood. However, the resources are now extremely limited. There is for example only one gold, and the first who rolls a 6 gets it. You start to roll a die, if you fail, it’s yellow’s turn. If she fails, it’s your turn again until someone has taken the gold.
It is the same with the other resources. Wood for example: If you roll a 6, you take 2 wood. Now it’s yellow’s turn. Keep rolling until all 4 wood is gathered. You may use your unused axes to increase your roll value.

1 vs. 2: If yellow have two workers she rolls two dice. But do not add the value of the dice.
Example: You are gathering wood and yellow rolls 1 and 5. She only gets ONE wood for the 5. Nothing for the 1.

Alone: If there is just one worker on a resource field, that player rolls a die. If he reaches the required level, he takes ONE resource and may try again. Keep rolling until you fail or the resources run out.

Tool hut
If you have a worker here you may pay 1 wood and 1 stone, to get an axe. When you have three level 1 axes, upgrade them to level 2 one by one, like in the real game. If you don't manage to get wood and stone this round, you get nothing.

Loving hut
If one male and one female stands here, they will have sex. Roll three dice. For every 5 and 6 a boy is born (green). 3 or 4 = girl (opponent). 1 or 2 = nothing happens.

Farm
As in the real game, this one increases the food track by one. However the food track is a bit different now. It simply shows how much food each player has. So you don’t get any additional food from the track. You won’t keep the food coins, so instead we use this meter to show how much food you have.
So basically, the farm is the same as hunting, but you will only get 1 food. On the other hand, your opponent won’t get any food at all, so it’s easier to make them starve.

When all workers have returned home you may use your resources to buy ONE card.

The Cards
The four cards give you different upgrades, and you will always play with the same cards. Once you have bought a card you have that upgrade throughout the whole game. Move the card upwards and cover the price to show that it’s bought.

Stone wagon
cost: 1
effect: use 2 stones in the game.

Food pot
cost: 2
effect: Add fish and mushrooms to the hunting.

Harvest calendar:
cost: 3
effect: get 2 food every time you stand on the farm, instead of only 1.

Statue of Luck
cost: 4
effect: You may roll 2 dice every time you roll for gold. But you may not add the result. The dice are treated as separated rolls.

Huts
Now it’s time to buy huts for your remaining resources. Start at the first and cheapest pile. Can you buy that? If not, move on to the next. Stop buying when you can’t buy anything. Now do the same with yellow. If you already have bought a building, that stack is now unavailable for yellow.
Score as many points shown on the hut.

End of round
If you still have some unused resources, put them back on the board and score 2 point for each.

Pay food
Feed your workers with the food you have collected. If you don’t have enough coins, reduce the food track as many steps as you need to feed all workers that have no coin. If you have coins left over, increase the food track. Put all coins back.
All workers that don’t get any food die. Consequently, if a tribe have 0 food at the end of the round, it will starve to death.
Your goal is to starve the yellow tribe to death. Then a new and better tribe will appear:

Blue tribe: When yellow is dead, the blue will take over yellows village. Put a blue marker on yellows victory marker. Put a blue food track marker on 8. Blue starts with 5 workers.

Red tribe: 10 food track, 6 workers, 1 axe*
*) Use red’s axe the first opportunity she gets where it benefits her.

VICTORY
You win if you have the most points when the third tribe is dead.
You lose if all your workers die or if anyone gets more than 100 points.

Hi:

Cool idea with this variant. Could you clarify a few things though?

1) For the stone wagon, that just gives you 2 stones to be used whenever you want? You don't have to use them immediately like all the other resources you collect? Also, why is there only 1 stone on the card, since the card gives you 2?

2) If there is only 1 stone available to harvest each round, how do you build the huts that require 2 stone?

3) Does the opponent get 2 points for each resource they collect and return?

4) Can the player place more than 1 meeple on a spot? I tried this, and ended up with 7 or 8 meeples, so I was putting a meeple on every spot, even ones I couldn't use like the tools (since I had received maximum tools)

5) If I go over 100 points, do I lose, or is it only if the opponent exceeds 100?

6) When placing opponent pieces, and you have a choice, where do they get placed? For instance, I have 5 meeples, and placed one on hunting, one on baby making, one on wood one on stone and one on Tools. The opponent has 3 meeples, so 1 has to go on hunting. Now the remaining 2 could go on wood, stones or baby making... how to decide?

Thanks for the clarifications. Like I said, it's a cool idea, so good job.

Hi!

Yes, I'll try to clariy:

1 & 2) The stone wagon doesn't give you any direct stone, it just makes 2 stones available. As you buy the card, put the stone on the card next to the stone on the board. Now you have a chance of getting 2 stones every round instead of one. That makes the 2 stone huts possible to build.

3) Yes. But first you must check if the opponent have enough resources to build a hut.

4) If all places are filled with meeples, you may put additional meeples in the resource fields. Then you get 2 dice, but you may not add their value, as usual in this variant.

5) Yes, none of you is allowed to exceed 100 points. The reason of that is because I discovered you easily could keep the red tribe alive with one meeple, until you get more points. Then you finish the game. Now that gets a little bit harder.

6) You may choose where to put the remaining.
