Episode # 145 has been posted!

http://audio.funagain.com/thedicetower/TDT145-TheDiceTower-E...

In this episode, Geoff tells us how to manipulate negotiations in games, and Moritz gives some suprising game news. Tom and Sam talk about some game news, their current gaming trends, and ideas for drafting in games. Finally, we end the show with our top ten games from ten years ago - in 1999.

You didn't miss much. Mortiz talked about how he is an evil cylon and due to some bad kimchi it was actually him that ended the series.

It was an April Fools segment, wasn't it?

I wish Moritz would hurry up and design the kimchi game though.

I am listening to the episode as i type. I noticed that you mention Small World a few times. When are we gonna see a review? Didn't Sam win a copy?

I get another oblique reference - to the cats. I think I intended to send in a segment (mainly just to say Hi to you guys) a while ago, so will get back on that, maybe I'll get some more kitten photos up to scare you both.

They're six weeks old now...

I just got my copy of Small World, Sam hasn't gotten his yet. We haven't given it a play, although it's on the short list for this Saturday (I actually may play it with my daughter tonight).

If you care, anyone, I reviewed it here. I liked it very much, though I don't give a flying monkeys about comparing it to Vinci.

Tom touched on one of the really good ways to handicap a game - used in tournaments all of the time. Tons of games have victory points of some soft these days - just front one player some extra points right from the start.

On the top ten - is the next episode the last of the look backs (I think you said it was)? Part of me likes hearing about older games that might not be on the radar anymore, but part of me thinks those lists are lacking in usefullness. I might be on the lookout for a particular type of game, but I never go shopping for a game from 1999, or any other year.

Nice episode

Yeah, this is the easiest way.

The thing is, I usually find the "weaker" player with the head-start suddenly picks it up easily and destroys everyone. Harsh. :)

That's not something wrong with this handicapping system, just "Le Law de la Sod", as the French don't say.

Ahem... I'm a little ut out, because I was washing up at the time and couldn't get to the laptop in time to turn him off. :shake:

Thanks. Great knowing that it turns out Mulder is actually an alien.

Since this is probably the best joke I've ever told (imagine the competition) I'm gutted it only got one thumb.

Ah well, back to the salt mines.
