As this episode of Board Games with Scott, I take a look at the remake of Vinci, Small World:

Thanks for the great review. As a Vinci fan, I've been keeping Small World in my sights.

Thank you Scott. As someone who had never played Vinci I was curious as to what all the fuss was about. Your review has given me a great overview of Small World and how it works. I'll definately give this game a try if anyone I know has it, but I am no longer as eager to purchase it myself.

I do though have one burning follow-up question: What colour socks?

Usually ones that match the shirt.

Thanks for the concise overview and comments regarding SW. The terminology of a Party Wargame is quite the oxymoron.

While the rhyming of a World of Beers is necessary by a poetic justice sense of style, I continue my quest to find a rhyme for tequila. Feelya, concealya, um um

I'm still not sure if I should buy it. I already own Vinci. I liked it very much when it came out, although I seldom found someone to play it with because of the war-theme and the, well, sparse design. Maybe that would change a little now since the graphics are cuter. If you can call a wargame cute.

Thanks for another great show. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Attention Ipod Users:

If you can't get this to sync with your Ipod, delete the downloaded file and re-download it. The first file I posted was smaller, but didn't work on the Ipod.

I've posted a new file that's larger but compatible.

(note - I will be thrilled when I get this right on the first try!)

SNOT BUBBLES!

Thanks for another great video, Scott. That die was very good to you in your example of play.

Thanks Scott! I'm even more interested in SW now after your video. One question though: In my group we play a lot of Settlers of Catan, Stone Age and Ticket to Ride, would you say SW is in the same category?

I've had this game on my radar and really appreciate the review. I think you've helped me decide that it isn't quite what I'd want to play. Thanks!

So did you stop giving out letter grades? I noticed you didn't grade this one.

Yes, I would say it's similar to those in weight.

In regard to the grading question, I stopped doing grades a while ago - I didn't feel they were communicating much of anything.

Quick question. Let's say you defeat a space with only one opponent tile. Will that single tile be thrown away, or given to the opponent to place again after your turn?

The single tile will go. The opponent always loses one 1 tile in the combat (unless they are the kissElVeSkiss where Elrond Dwells!)
