There's been a number of threads about which expansions are needed for which parts of which campaigns in this book, so I thought I'd go through my book and post a count. Hope it's useful!

Before the parentheses I've put the required components, in the parentheses I've put components that aren't necessary but either make the scenario prettier or more convenient to play and last whether air rules are optional or in effect. Obviously any scenario that 'requires' the D/W board could be played without it, but why would you?

In summary -

Battle of Normandy Grand Campaign (17 scenarios) - playable with only the base set, ideally uses the air pack.
Unternehman Fall Gelb Grand Campaign (21 scenarios) - playable with only the base set and the terrain pack, ideally also use the air pack.
Operation Barbarossa Grand Campaign (23 scenarios) - needs the base set, terrain pack, eastern front and the air pack, ideally also the Winter board (for 3 scenarios). Could probably muddle through without the air pack.

Thanks for the list. I have a quick question. There seem to be an awful lot of scenarios with "optional air rules". Do you know if not using the air rules makes that much of a difference in game play/enjoyment? The reason I ask is that the Air Pack is the only expansion I don't have, but I was thinking of getting the campaign book.

You must have THIS expansion.

Air pack was the worst expansion, next to the campaign bag.

So it sounds like the terrain pack is really utilized here.

I disagree for two reasons: The scenario book and the deck of cards.

The scenario book includes every standard scenario published to that point, including magazine and convention scenarios most people would never have seen. The existing scenarios, such as those that came with the basic set, were all tweaked, revised and improved. For this book of scenarios alone it's almost worth it.

And the deck of cards featuring summaries of every rule, troops type, and more is very handy to have. A great addition to any Memoir '44 collection.

I don't really care for the air rules, but I'm happy with the set thanks to the two items mentioned above (not to mention terrain stuff that rounds out the Easter Front expansion).

Yes, the Summary cards are invaluable.
It is very handy simply giving the few relevant cards to a newbie player than handling several sheets of player aids.

That aside, I find the air planes a nice twist to many scenarios.

Are these two scenarios the same as published before in Air Pack?

Is that when they ran out of ammunition and ended up throwing decorated Fabergé eggs at each other?
