Positions are given as row/column. Face cards during combat were redrawn. For Air-to-Air combat CDs I do not list the modifiers.
I set up so that the NV controlled the East, North and West sides of the map. The AAA was in 1/1 and 1/8, also 4/4. The target was located in 5/5.
The MiG17 came in at 1/5, the MiG19 at 1/6. The A4 came in low from 8/4, the F4 Ace high in 8/2, the F4 high in 8/1.
First Turn:
The NV start (CD = R8, R King) by rendezvousing over the target. AAA lets loose on the F4 and a low CD misses.
The US gets three activations in a row (CD= B8, B3, B10) The F4 Ace and F4 shoot toward the target followed by the A4. The A4 arrives over the target and bombs away. A CD of 5 plus + 2 (low) + 3 (bomb factor) destroys the target. That was easy!
The NV respond (CD = R6, R Jack), having the MiG17 fly toward the A4 and dive low, firing when in position. A low CD (Ace) means a thankful miss for the A4. Since there are no non-adjacent US aircraft for the AAA to target, the MiG19 also dives low and fires at the A4. Another bad CD (Ace) saves the A4.
The A4 decides to bug out (CD = B7) by turning right and heading for the carrier. The F4 Ace and F4 dive to Medium level to take on the NV.
The NV makes their move (CD = R King, R7, R2, R6). The MiG19 climbs back to medium level and heads toward the F4s, followed by the MiG17 turning to the left and coming up behind the F4 Ace.
The CD = Joker ends this turn.
Second Turn:
The NV continue their luck (CD = R8, R5, R King). The MiG17 flies toward the F4 Ace and fires. The US gets lucky with a low CD (2) for another a miss. The MiG19 shoots past and turns a 180 coming up behind the US. The AAA fires at the A4 trying to flee, but again misses.
Now it’s the US’s turn to attack (CD = B Ace, B7). The F4 Ace flies past, turns 180 and fires at the MiG17. A CD = 8 means a hit. The MiG17 is damaged.
The NV respond (CD = R7, R2, R6). The MiG19 turns its attention to the A4 attempting to leave the area. The MiG17 tries to get into position for another attack. The MiG19 dives low and fires at the A4. A CD = Joker means a miss and the end of the turn.
Third Turn:
The MiG21 enters at 1/4 (CD = R8) and moves into position, firing at the F4 Ace. A CD = 7 scores a hit; the F4 Ace is damaged.
Time for payback (CD = B Jack). The F4 moves into position, takes aim at the MiG21, fires then dives low. A CD = 6 scores a hit on the MiG21.
The NV get their turn now (CD = R10, R8, R Queen, R3). The MiG21 moves into attack position and fires at the smoking F4 Ace, but misses (CD = Ace). The MiG17 is also jockeying for attack angles. The MiG21 dives low and goes after the F4 firing, but misses (CD = 2).
The US responds (CD = 10). The A4 moves off-map. The damaged F4 Ace dives low and takes aim at the likewise damaged MiG21. A decent CD (5) scores a hit and destroys the MiG.
The NV takes aim (CD = R Jack, R9, R5). The MiG17 dives low and fires at the F4 Ace. A direct hit (CD = 6) destroys the already damaged F4 Ace. The MiG19 goes after the remaining F4.
Time for the US to head home (CD = B10). The F4 wheels 180 and heads south.
The NV take one last AAA shot (CD = R Jack) and wings the F4.
But the F4 makes it off-map before any more damage can be done (CD = B9).
End of Game
Target destroyed 1 NV aircraft destroyed (MiG21) 1 NV aircraft damaged (MiG17) 1 US aircraft destroyed (F4 Ace) 1 US aircraft damaged (F4)
US Win.
