Great review! I really got a good idea of what the game is like and as an agricola fan I think I'm getting this one! Keep up the very frequent video reviews and thanks for this one.
I don't want happiness by halves, nor is half of sorrow what I want. Yet there's a pillow I would share, where gently pressed against a cheek like a helpless star, a falling star, a ring glimmers on the finger of a hand.
I've read the rules, and the game is on my radar. It was nice to have a video, even it skipped some stuff (buying buildings vs building them - not that I exepeced a complete rule summary!)
Dominion is a close second. I hadn't played Le Havre when I did that review.
Although I might qualify. I think Dominion might be the best game of 2008, but Le Havre is my personal favorite. I can't get anyone and everyone to play Le Havre (although I try), but I can get them to play Dominion.
Despite reading review I've never understood Le Havre, but your video made everything make sense. Great job!
Probably because of the visual element.
John H. Patterson would be proud of you. He correctly identified the strongest means of disseminating information to the masses a century ago (though admittedly he probably wasn't the first--just one of the best known).
WOW ! Wonderful video review. I am placing an order right away BTW: these videos are great for obvious reasons....see the components, look at the gameplay, pros and cons, but most of all, it is like going into a shop and asking "Can I open the game box and you show me the basics" ! Fantastic...thanks Tom.
If she can handle Agricola, she can handle this. This is way simpler than Agricola. No fancy exceptions, interactions between this and that like Agricola has.
One worker. One move per turn. Take some stuff sitting on the board, or put your worker on a space and do what that space says. That's *it*.
The brain work is in playing the game *well*. But it's very easy to putter along at an amateur level.
How similar is this game to Caylus? I HATE Caylus because of the fact that if you fall behind, you are screwed. I've heard this is similar to Caylus and I am terrified of that fact. Can someone enlighten me?
