I've played a game or two of CC:A, but Vassal is completely new to me, though I think I figured out where to get the module. I'd like to play be email, so I've got something to do on my lunch break at work. Anybody up for teaching me? I promise to lose the first game.
If no one else steps up, I'll help you out. My only hesitation is that we are moving soon so I am not sure how much time I can consistently devote to this.
But I have trained quite a few in Memoir on Vassal PBEM and a couple on Ancients.
Ed, If you haven't had much success hooking up with anyone by Monday, pm me and I'll arrange a time to help you out. I'll have a wide variety of times at that point to meet up with you.
I'm also a CC:A and vasal noob. I just purchased my copy of both the core and 1st expansion earlier this week and they are in route to my house as I type this. (Go CLS Games! WOOT!) I'm also looking for someone to teach me the ways of Vasal. I'm not a Commands and Colrs noob though. I have quite a few games of Memoir '44, Battlelore and Battlecry under my belt. I'm willing to play via wargames room too if anyone is interested.
I realise this isn't relevant to most users but I should point out that while Wargameroom looks great, it isn't at all friendly to Mac users. There are some Java gymnastics that can be used to get it running in a limited way but even then Macs apparently can't host.
I've found Vassal excellent online and it's also a great engine for quick and easy solo play.
Brent.

My Mac hosted a game of Twilight Struggle from wargameroom this morning with no apparent problems. Granted all I did was the setup and the first action round....

That's good news. Maybe they've introduced Apple scripts (for Twilight Struggle at least). There was a discussion of how one user previously managed to get it to run for TS here....the relevant entry is about half way down (post 9).
I've run into a few snags with my Mac but been able to work them all out. Just a few different steps here and there and it usually works fine. Let me know if you need any help!
