So who's up for the Rugby World Cup version??

Looking at this seriously as I think I have cracked the system in order to create a similar experience for the Rugby World Cup.

Board games on Rugby don't seem to attract much interest but I am sure that if you like The World Cup Game you would also like the Rugby World Cup Game. I think interest in Australasia, South Africa, France and Italy would probably be higher than the TWCG.

That may be true but, unless there is something in the gameplay that makes it play differently from the existing game, you are unlikely to generate any additional interest from those people who already own the original.

I've added a link to this thread on my Spiel website to see if anyone who links to me would care to comment.

The gameplay is similar to TWCG insofar as you play cards and add - in this case Tries, Conversions, Penalties and Drop Goals. I would go as far as to say that my ideas may have exceeded that of TWCG as the experience of this game has helped me to understand some of the things that are not so good about TWCG. No prototype yet, but will do it soon.

Bill, thanks for your offer of help again. I will no doubt be in touch!

If it's sufficiently different, I'm interested.

I know close to nothing about rugby, but I love The World Cup Game, so I think a rugby version could be a cool reason to learn more about it.

I'm a World Cup Game fan but prefer rugby as a sport. I would happily pre-order it now.

I would also be interested in a Rugby World Cup game. Expansions covering the historical tournaments would be very cool too.

Sign me up too. I can have an expansion set built for that too!

Fantastic News.

When can I expect to have a crack at this game, Shaun?

Frantically trying to get the prototype finished for MidCon in Birmingham UK over the weekend 13-15 November.

More interest shown at Essen this year where I had printouts of the 2007 prototype board.
