The only thing I can see is mauve had his N1 kill on Kaldar. If Kaldar is a cub, Mauve would not have known. The only way Mauve would have known he was the wolf at that point would be if his kill order actually died. But if Kaldar is a cub, then Kaldar's order died. He's claiming his order was for Dispy, but he would have known right away he was a promoted cub, so he would have been able to fabricate his orders from the beginning.
There is no evidence of Mauve targeting dcorrin. As the wolf would only be self aware if his first (or first few) kill orders went through. So, I'm thinking Mauve promoted Kaldar on N1, wasn't self-aware, so he had no problem saying Kaldar was his N1 kill order.

That line of reasoning would depend on
1. Mauve not lying after he killed the REAL target
2. Dcorrin would have been activated d1 if that were the case. We have been calling for a priest reveal for several days. Why would he not reveal, if he knew he was the priest and we needed him to reveal, or so we thought, yesterday?
