2008 BGG Wargamers' Award

The goals of this award are :
- To promote wargames at large - To recognize quality wargames valued by the BGG community - To showcase what are wargames to non wargamers - To present a good selection of wargames produced in 2008 to people curious about wargames.

Who can vote : Any BGG user who has purchased an Avatar or a GeekBadge can vote, that's the only criteria.
So here is the procedure:
Send a Geekmail to
2008 BGG Wargamers' Award
Subject being : "Vote"
In the mail content put only 3 wargames names from the following official nominees list:
No Retreat! The wargame with the most votes will win, the second and 3rd will determined by vote count as well... Vote will end the 30th Oct midnight.
The awards will be announced on 31th Oct 2009.

I have played exactly 3 of these games, so that's how I've voted. Conscience dictates that I shouldn't vote for something I haven't played.
(Luckily, this does not hold true for political candidates.)

Maybe the same who have only one game in their "inventory" and only rate one game and have no other "traffic" whatsoever...

DISCRIMINATION! I am but a poor humble working man who has spent 8 of the past 12 months unemployed. I have no geekbadge or avatar. I can not vote! This whole process is elitist. I, a grognard of more than 40 years denied the right to vote. Shame. Shame!!

Same here, I've never earned enough GeekGold to buy an Avatar! I just got these measly little "mini-avatars" a few days ago, trying my best to fit in with the grognard crowd. Oh the SHAME! *sniff*
