Congratulation to all the game designers and to all the publishers for all the great 2008 releases !

Also thanks to all of you voting for this award, we have received close to 600 votes for this first edition of the BGG Wargamers' Awards !!

Thanks you as well to all the selection committee members: Desaix, Scoutmom, Grognard, Kiraly, Alphawolf, mrbeankc, Harae, Billyboy and GeneSteeler.

Special thanks to Grognads for starting the idea of having our own award delivered by the BGG wargamers and for starting the award process.

And finally thank you to Aldie for creating BGG and that have made it all possible...

Next rendezvous is for the 2009 BGG Wargamers' Awards, probably in Spring 2010, we'll see...

Well done guys...very well done! Thanks for doing this, taking the time, etc. Grassroots democracy. Looking forward to the 2009 Awards.

Bonus...my #1 pick won. Congrats to Charles and GMT. It is a fine game and I am very happy to have it in my collection.

This is an outrage! How is it the most innovative war game of the year didn't win this one? Why I must have voted for "Small World" a dozen times myself. I demand a recount.

Small World? SMALL WORLD?

I thought it was Smalls World. I didn't see how a game about underwear could be considered a wargame.

Oh and a good winner, all - Unhappy King Charles is a very good game!

Somehow Grognads disappeared with all the Small World votes!

Do I win a holiday in Hawaii or a set of steak knives?

At 600 votes you must be the biggest or one of the biggest awards in the Hobby. well done.

Yep congrats to charles. It will be interesting to see how the results of this compare to the Golden Geek awards. It is also interesting that WoG did much worse here than the CSRs. I wonder if the lack of CoH doing well might have something to do with it. Regardless well done to all the winners.

There were over 200 voters. Although everyone was allowed to vote for 3 games many only voted for one or two.

Are there any ballots uncounted due to 'hanging chads'?

How many votes from Chicago?

Amazing. I expected CCacific under the first five games, also had Devil's Cauldron as a hot runner for the first few places but Unhappy King Charles totally surprised me.

Is there a list of all the games that were in the run? Just wondering if I was the only one for Barbarossa: Kiev to Rostov.

Thanks, was a pleasant experience.

Now - where is my paycheck since I did not receive any bribes for being in the committee (just joking)... shake
