Solo game (this was my first game): 300 points per team.
Quick impression: I really like the game and am really looking forward to playing with my horror movie loving friends and family. So far I only have the Base Starter set, the Freddy vs. Jason set, and the Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. set. No blind boosters. As cheap as these "action packs" are now, you get a ton of game.
Also, I think the victim slaying/saving mechanic of the game is great for a horror movie game. Coupled with the powers that monsters have, and how they get "activated" (usually by taking damage or slaying/saving victims) the system works really well and gives each monster a ton of character.
I really hope that NECA (the new owners of the game) will put some money into this game as they own the rights to a lot of horror movies and TV shows...
Quick note: I used the Crumbling Mausoleum map from the Base Starter and I did not use any plot twist cards. I wanted to familiarize myself with the basic rules and I wasn't sure if the plot twists would be that "twisty" in a solo game, so I left them out. The Mausoleum map has an open middle area with a ton of victims in it, while the edges of the map are covered in twists and turns with "crypts" for victims/monsters to hide in scattered throughout.
Note: in the following, links go to the info for each monster at the http://itswickedfun.net fansite.
Team Freddy: Freddy (info) Freddy Worm (info) Outpatient (info) Lynch Ghost (info)
Team Jason: Jason (info) Jason vs. Freddy (info) Skeleton (info) Chainsaw (info)
Team Jason got to go first, flipping a victim (a Jock! movement 6) near Team Freddy's starting area and making them run towards the Team Jason starting area. Jason made a dash for the middle, hoping to claim a mass of victims there with his "In Flagrante Delicto" power (if you slay a victim adjacent to a victim of the opposite sex, slay them both), while the others headed towards their "chosen" victims.
Team Freddy flipped a victim in the middle had them run to within movement range of the Lynch Ghost (who can initially walk through walls) while Freddy and The Outpatient ran to claim their "chosen" victims.
After another turn or two of victim chasing, everyone was blooded and the manuvering/posturing started. Jason and "Jason vs. Freddy" had clear control of the middle of the board while Chainsaw was making his way around the back of the board to try and steal the last remaining victim before Freddy got it. Skeleton slowly made his way to the middle of the board for backup.
At this point, Freddy was blooded but only had one victim... he has some nice affects later in his dial that get better the more victims you've killed and was trying to work his way around the edge of the board to get the last victim before Chainsaw did. In transit, Freddy got jumped by a frenzying "Jason vs. Freddy". Although a point of damage got through Freddy's invulnerability, this left "Jason vs. Freddy" vulnerable. Ooops. Next turn Freddy possessed him and had him frenzy Skeleton in the middle of the board for 3 damage (2 after Skeleton's stamina). Looking back, I played this wrong: when a blooded monster frenzies, their damage value becomes 1 so none of the above damage should have gotten through... hey, I'm learning.
The Lynch Ghost decided to frenzy into the middle to get penetrating damage in on "Jason vs. Freddy" who was still vulnerable from the possession. After getting its lone hit in, Lynch Ghost went down to an onslaught brought by Jason and Skeleton. First monster kill.
Chainsaw then came up behind the Freddy team and stole the last victim, denying Freddy the additional per victim bonus. A short battle ensued between Freddy and Chainsaw, with Chainsaw rolling horribly, and Freddy getting in a crit. Chainsaw was toast.
This left The Outpatient and Freddy Worm blocking a bottleneck into the middle of the board with Jason coming through first, attacking the Worm. After taking a massive hit, The Worm used its "Dream Taveller" ability to teleport to a nearby blood spot, away from the action. Freddy took the Worm's spot tearing into Jason.
During this time, Skeleton made its way into the fray, backing up Jason. He wasn't able to reach Freddy due to the bottleneck setup, but was able to attack The Outpatient. Unfortunately, The Outpatient and his tentacles were able to deflect every single hit Skeleton got in.
Meanwhile "Freddy vs. Jason", learning his lesson about vulnerable monsters going against Freddy, was making his way behind the Freddy team. Freddy Worm intercepted, and the two got into it. "Jason vs. Freddy", already heavily damaged, ended up being no match for The Worm and its long dial with vampirism ("Souls of the Children") power.
In the Jason and Freddy fight, Jason was the first to get knocked down out of his invulnerability clicks, with Freddy following next turn. Jason had one last grasp at victory when a hit was landed with his Machete (Slash) power in effect, but he rolled a one for damage (ugh). The Outpatient, having only taken one hit the whole match due to his deflecting tentacles, and Freddy were able to make quick work of the now vulnerable Jason. Skeleton went down shortly after.
A few bad die rolls, some poorly thought out strategy, and some rules errors ended up losing the game for Team Jason. A lot of things could have gone differently had I actually played with the right frenzy rules... Having the rules down a bit better now, I'm looking forward to playing again and seeing how the plot twist cards add to the game... Team Jason demands a rematch.

Wow! The first attempt at a full session report for Horrorclix! Well done! I keep promising myself I'm going to start doing one every few weeks but I keep not getting around to it! You've made me realise it will be harder then it looks! Thanks for the effort.
