Hey everybody,
I got sick of shuffling the cards to play Dominion, so I made an iPhone app called Dominion Minion which shuffles whichever boxes you want (Base, Intrigue and/or Seaside) to give you random starting sets. It also supports the Black Market and Envoy cards. The app is currently in English and German (logically since I own the German game), but would like to help others in other countries enjoy the game as well.
If you'd be interested in translating the cards to your language, let me know and I can email the files that need to be translated (only 78 cards and around 15 phrases). If you could also help me translate the three paragraph app description into your language I'd also appreciate it, but this is optional. It's important that I use the wording printed on the card for each language, that is why I'm asking on BGG. I would also hope you would still be available when future Dominion editions come out, but that's not necessary.
Dominion has been published in the following languages, so I'm looking for "translators" for them: Chinese, Dutch, Finnish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish and Portuguese. If you have the game in another language, please let me know as well! If you'd like to translate, please send me your email address via direct message on BGG, so I can send you the files to translate.
For more information about the app, see http://www.chucksmith.de/dominion-minion/
Thanks in advance! Chuck

Sorry for being slightly off topic and not answering your question really - but any chance you can make something similar for use for regular cell phone? It's just that iPhones are not as common here in Hungary I believe (and perhaps it's the same with other countries not in western-europe or north america). Thanks.

Unfortunately, I focus exclusively on the iPhone, but I do have a friend who is currently working on an Android port of the app. There are some simple websites which have this functionality, so you might be able to access them directly from your phone's web browser. I'd be happy to share my resource files if anyone wants to port Dominion Minion to another platform.
Just curious, was Dominion also published in Hungarian?

Any chance of adding the option of picking Zombinion cards? I know that one of the online Dominion randomizers already does this, and it'd be great if your iPhone app did as well.

Nice looking app Chuck. Now I'll have to upgrade to 3.0.

Interesting. I was originally only planning to support official published games, but it seems people are actually playing with this. I could see this simply as being another language... do you speak English or Zombie? :) Is Zombinian also available for Intrigue and Seaside or only for the base?

It's available for the base game and both expansions. The Intrigue variant is called Zombinion: Entrails, and the Seaside variant is called Zombinion: Genocide.
At one point I made a table establishing equivalences between Dominion and its Zombinion variants. I could send that to you if you're interested!

If you could send me that by email (chuck at chucksmith dot de) or Wave (chuckssmith at googlewave dot com), that would help immensely. Thanks!

Hi Chuck,
Very nice looking app - just picked it up.
One request - In the past I've just been using a web-based dominion shuffler (bookmarked on the iPhone) It has these rather handy options:
Require one card with additional buys Require one card with additional actions If there is an attack, require a reaction card Require a more equitable split in terms of cost
The last one isn't so important (to me) but the first three are very useful. What are the chances of adding something like these?

Quite good! I just need to know what people actually use. Maybe you could provide a link to that web shuffler so I could take a look at it? There are many ways to move forward with this and I'm trying to see what most people want.
I'm not sure yet which will make the next version, I'm hoping people will tell me what they actually use and want. I personally pretty much always play a straight shuffle, but I want to make this app feature-rich and yet make sure I keep it simple for people who just want a quick basic shuffle. That will probably involve adding an Advanced settings page I imagine.

Here you go Chuck:

I have found that games with multiple attack cards but no reactions can be a bit much, but that's just my personal taste...
Thanks again for the app.

Oooh, now I'm getting greedy - love the start player randomizer on that site.
Actually Chuck, there's an app I'd pay for - a start player randomizer!!!

Actually i am in the progress of making such an app for regular JME phones. I for instance do not have an iPhone (and don't plan to) so i hope i will be done with it by christmas. Sorry i don't have the time until then!

Thanks to the helpful document you sent me, I've now finished coding Zombinion support. However, when you refresh, I have it ask, "Want me to shuffle again, my lord?" Admittedly, I haven't had much of an interest in zombies, so... What would be a good way to say this in "zombie speak"?
I have to admit I never thought I would end up asking that question. :)

Maybe just "More Zombies?" I have to say that "shuffle again, my lord" sounds like an Evony ad.

I just submitted an update with Zombinion support. It takes Apple about two weeks to approve apps, so you should get the free update then! Keep the feature requests coming, people! :)

Does this app saves sets or scores? My current setup for recording dominion plays is writing the scores in the ipod notes and using my (pretty good) memory to record the set in my BGG plays.

It doesn't yet. I just had someone yesterday ask me for that. I'm considering adding a feature like this to a future version. Could you clarify in more detail what you would like the app to do in regard to note-taking? As for your BGG plays, why don't you make a screenshot while you play, so that you can review it perfectly later?

Dominion Minion v1.1 now in the App Store with Zombinion support! Free upgrade for everyone who already bought it. Tonight I added more data internally to the app, so I hope I can already add support for things like "At least one attack card" and "If there is an Attack card, have a reaction card". I'm not sure what will make it into the next update, but there should also be French and Polish language support. Thanks everyone for all the great feedback so far!

I now have a Dominion Minion feature request poll, so if you all could participate, I'd greatly appreciate it!
