Be careful what you ask for. You'll probably get Derk in his kilt.

I find it interesting that at game that is owned by 156 users and got 93 ratings won the party game section. Obviously it was not a popular section or it was a very tight affair

Obviously it was not a popular section or it was a very tight affair That's because it's merely a slight update of the original game which has 1500 owners and ratings. Look for your scandal elsewhere.

Dune Express is a fantastic way to get into the world of print and play gaming, and it's free! Do yourself a favor, and print off this award winning game.
Congrats to the designer, BGG's own Felbrigg Herriot.

"The original game" itself being a direct publication of an old public domain game.

I feel Artwork and Presentation was tight contest between Android and Space Hulk. Both are incredibly well put together and are just bleeding theme.
The artwork for Android seems a little abstract at first, but as one plays the game it begins to fit in perfectly. The absolute dichotomy of expressions between the characters' good and bad cards is very chilling to see. The board is beautifully designed as well with very well chosen pictures and titles for major locations. Add in the flavor from the rulebook and you have a complete game experience that fully immerses the player into the Android world.
Space Hulk, first of all, was reprinted on very thick cardboard and covered in a gloss coat of the highest quality (something many more games should have these days). All of the counters have been redesigned with the same thick cardboard and glossy coating. In addition, this edition includes 12 fully customized terminators; each clearly holding the weapons (many more weapons in this edition) that they are equipped with. Even the genestealers have been molded with many new poses. The mission book is also crawling with theme.
In the end, I believe the large amount of quality placed into the Space Hulk remake was what most likely tipped the vote.

I'm promising myself that Le Havre will be played by the end of the year now.

Well, I guess I can't fault Dominion as a choice for Game of the Year, as it won the Spiel Des Jarres. But in a year that saw so many good games, I just don't know.
Pleased with the choice of Pandemic as Family GOTY, and On the Brink as ExOTY.
Congratulations to the winners!

Contradictions do not exist. When you think you are facing one check your premises. You will find that one of them is wrong.
You wouldn't worry half as much about what other people thought of you if you realized how rarely they actually did.
-
I would like Le Havre a lot more if it didn't take so long as anything but a 2 player game. You know how Agricola feels like there isn't enough time when it's over? Le Havre feels just the opposite to me. I find myself wishing it were over 3 or 4 rounds before the end. Still a great game though.
