As of today, Cosmic Incursion is off the boat and on its way to distributors and stores. My goal of having this by Dundracon is looking good!

(By the way, if anyone else is going to Dundracon, please drop me a line.)
Edit: added link.

Actually, the product page for Cosmic Incursion has said "shipping to distributors" since January 11th (since the announcement of the Magician)... I'm dying to know what that could mean for a potential release date.
I cannot wait.

I can't wait either! (Obviously, heh.)
From my 18 months or so of FFG-watching, I've found that the Upcoming page has generally the most accurate info. I didn't really believe the "shipping to distributors" bit from 1/11 because it wasn't reflected on the Upcoming page. I imagine the copy for the previews is written independently of the updates to the Upcoming page. Since the last preview and rules PDF generally comes about the time the product is hitting the trucks, I suspect the copy was written to reflect that. It just didn't quite match up with the boat, perhaps.

But, yes, I think you're right; the Upcoming page specifically seems to have the best and most accurate information.

I preordered two copies of Incursion from CoolStuffInc.com (been buying boardgames and miniatures from them for a year or two now). They had the release date as "winter 09/10" for quite a while, but today I noticed it's been updated to say Expected Release: January 28 (very likely the date they've been given by their distributor).

I'd tend to agree with you only because if it had been shipping since the 11th, I think we'd have more of an update by now... but hopefully soon. The cosmic encounter online site says that "shipping to distributors" typically means 7-10 days in the US and a bit longer in Canada.... let's hope that's accurate!

Yeah, but don't you think going to a brick and mortar would potentially get it into your hands a couple of days quicker? I'm too impatient to wait for shipping on something like this.

I get two-day UPS shipping from CoolStuffInc (for free when I buy $100 or more) and they've always been prompt. I have no idea what brick & mortar around here would actually have Incursion on release day (or even a month later, for that matter) and I don't have the patience to call up every game store in five cities to see if I can find one.
So I guess I have a different flavor of impatience. ;-)

The last few games I've carefully watched from FFG have had what I've heard as a "ship date" ... Which is like a street date for releasing a retail item on shelves, except it refers to the date a wholesale distributor can *start* to ship something. If Mr. Bill's January 28 is a date imposed universally by FFG, a local retailer should have stock on the weekly delivery subsequent to the 28th. On online sale could start travel on the 28th, by comparison.
So depending on when your retailer gets orders filled, you could get it on Friday the 29th or next Thursday, February 4.

I had to cave. My FLGS told me March! He's usually excellent at getting things. Maybe it's a Canada thing.
So I ordered online. 16 bucks plus 15 shipping is exactly what I expected to pay at the store. He said he recieved confirmation they they are receiving on Monday and shipping out the same. Cannot wait.
