Subject: Can you trade 3 value 1 emerald for 1 value 3 emerald? rss

Because if there are more players, the value 1 emerald will run out soon. So I think it should be allow to but the rulebook does not mention anything about this. What do you think?

We have not allowed this. Fitting emeralds and items into the knapsack is one of the game's conditions and challenges. If a player picks up lots of 1-value gems, they will soon take up needed room. This forces players to decide whether to drop some or try to pick up 3-value gems, instead. If gems are not available, that's just too bad for players finding them too late. Again, one of the pressures of the game.

The English rules in my copy expressly say that you cannot make change with small emeralds.
