Anyone have a good recommendations?
I have read World War Z (good) by Max Brooks,
The Rising and City of the Dead (horrible) by Brian Keene
and My personal favorite Day by Day Armageddon (A must read) by J.L. Bourne
I need something zombie to pass the time waiting for my preorder.
Thanks.

Try looking up Plague of the Dead...
http://www.themorningstarsaga.com/ It is good but not Day by Day Armageddon great.
Monster Island, Nation and Planet I think are also... 'alright'.

There is even one that I'm trying to find that follows life after death with a zombie. The author follows the unlife of a turned zombie and sorta sits in behind it's eyes watching the world as it tries to live day to day. (so to speak)

For what it's worth, I read Monster Island, and liked it well enough, but not to go read the rest of the series.
Have you read World War Z, by Max Brooks? It's very good.
EDIT: Duh, nevermind. That'll teach me to respond from reading just the title of the thread alone.

Patient Zero by Jonathan Mayberry is well written (he's a multiple Bram Stoker winner). It's a master spy book with a Chuck Norris type lead with zombies, so I liked it but did not love it.
I'm halfway through Starwars: Death Troopers, and have yet to encounter a zombie, but I know they're there, somewhere.
The problem with zombie fiction is every writer wants to add some special zombie background to call his own. That ruined the Brian Keene novels for me, but not doing that made Day by Day my favorite zombie novel.
If you are willing a try another Brian Keene novel with some of the same characters and settings, but none of the weird zombie demon stuff, Dead Sea is pretty good.

The Book Of All Flesh
The Book Of More Flesh The Book Of Final Flesh
Anthology collections of short stories by a wide variety of authors, with, I guarantee you, the most diverse collection of ideas on what makes a 'zombie' story ever.
Many of them quite unsettling.
Created as inspiration for players of All Flesh Must Be Eaten.

Hey great question!
Here is a little known book that is good fun. It came from a small publisher so it didn't get the circulation other books do. You will also notice, it was put out a little before (2005) the zombie revival.
It is also short stories, so when that game arrives, you aren't dropping a whole book.
I highly recommend: The Undead: Zombie Anthology http://www.amazon.com/Undead-Anthology-D-L-Snell/dp/09765559...

EXACTLY. Everyone hyped Keene's zombie novels, but they were all disappointing because all of them went in a weird paranormal/weird direction in the end (except for Dead Sea). Best book hands down is Day by Day Armageddon. Besides that, it's a stretch to really find a good "normal" zombie book. David Moody's Autumn series is really good, though it's hard to find. I Am Legend was great, though it's not really zombies. If you don't mind some paranormal stuff,I really liked Stephen King's "Cell." Also, they're not really zombies, but a really good post-apocalyptic novel is Isaac Asimov's Nightfall.

I will plug my favorite zombie podcast http://www.mailorderzombie.com/ by telling you that they had a report in a recent episode that said Autumn was due to be released soon as a movie (in the UK I believe). I haven't read the book (as you say, it is hard to find), but will definitely check out the movie (if it is any easier to find).

Actually for the best reading of any sort I recommend this book available in hardcopy or PDF...
All Things Zombie: Better Dead Than Zed!
It's actually good reading and with it's expansion material...
All Things Zombie: Haven
If you want the board game then the rule set and expansion are probably great bedtime reading material and if they spark interest then you can hop out of bed, go to the gaming table and set something up to run right that moment.

There is Zombies edited by John Skipp. It has a ton of short stories and at 20 bucks is a bargain for such a huge book. The books by Brian Keene aren't too bad either.

Thanks for all these awesome books. I just put "Day by Day Armageddon" on my Amazon wishlist to pick up in my next order. Need to get "World War Z" too which has already been there.

And soon the next Dresden Files book comes out so I expect I'll have a lot of reading to do in April!

Day by Day Armageddon is great and they're taking pre-orders for it's sequel. Which Dresden one are you looking for... softcover for Turncoat or something newer?

Don't forget Max Brook's opening Zombie piece; Zombie Survival Guide. It's funny just because it outlines survival techniques and equipment lists for surviving different levels of Zombie outbreaks with a completely serious tone, although it's not so funny when you consider it is actually used as a training manual for the military...

Nice, thanks for all the suggestions. I had the sequel to Day by Day pre-ordered the day it went up on amazon. I have already thought of using the first book as scenario ideas for this game. I wont talk about it here so as not to spoil the book for anyone who has not read it yet.
Again, thanks for all the suggestions, off to amazon.com

There has been some already great recommendations.
I second The Walking Dead comic series. I also really enjoyed the Morningstar Strain series, Day by Day Armageddon.
Some others that have yet to be posted.
My all time favorite is Eden. The ending is fantastic.
As the World Dies series is also interesting.
Dead City. Is a fast great read.

Everyone already mentioned my favorites, so I'll throw this odd little gem out:
Boneshaker by Cherie Priest. It's a melting pot of steampunk, zombies, airships, alternate history, adventure, and it's very, very awesome.

I am reading Patient Zero right now. It is pretty good, a little on the Chuck Norris side as a previous poster mentioned. I don't know if it is still in print but you should check out Book of the Dead by Peter Tombs. It is basically a history of zombie movies from the Thirties on. It will have plenty of suggestions for your viewing pleasure to supplement your reading. I do want to check out Boneshaker. Sounds right up my alley.

Star Wars: Death Troopers was only OK. It's an uneasy mixture of Star War's action-adventure (including our favorite wise-cracking Millennium Falcon crew) and some truly gruesome zombie fare. The author could probably write really spooky zombie novel, but his Star Wars stuff was repetitive and uninspired.
I'm sloooowly working my way through Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It really is the Jane Austin book with zombies. Enjoying it, though.
If peeps don't mind a couple of books with a conventional ZPAW, but a radically different approach (like philosophy, morality, and half a book written by a zombie), Kim Paffenroth's Dying to Live series is very well written and engaging. I probably would have preferred a mindless gut-muncher, but what do you expect from a religious scholar, professor (Not me, Prof. Paffenroth!).
