My birthday is on April 2nd. It is April 17th and I've played this game more than 20 times. (I do work full time too). I would like to take a moment to explain to you why this game is so great, and cover some of the 'conceivable' negatives of the game.

Why Everyone Should Get Their "Dungeon License"

1. The art! I am continually drawn in by the hilarity of the picture on the front of the box! Am I just a weirdo who would buy a game just for the box......No. (that I'm aware). Anyway, the overall appearance of all the pieces, mixed with the tone of the rules make this game fun and funny to play.

2. The theme! In this game you play as an aspiring evil Dungeon Lord. You build up a great dungeon, full of monsters and traps, and try to protect it from those meddling adventurers. You direct your imps and minions in how to best build a dungeon, and then you place your traps and monsters to defeat those lousy heroes.

3. The gameplay! You secretly choose three orders to execute during each season of the year. You have to expertly guess what your opponents will choose, because the effectiveness of your own order depends directly on how many other players picked the same one, and in what order. This makes the game very strategic and allows you to play again and again.

Why Some People Might Fail the Dungeon License Test

1. In my opinion this game is best played with 4 people. It can be played with 2 and 3 players, but I find that it works best with 4. If you have too many friends, or not enough, the game may not play quite as well.

2. It is difficult to go into the game with a hard and fast plan. Much of the game is so dependent on what your opponents do, you really can't plan ahead too far without dooming yourself. If you don't think so well on your feet, than this could be a downside

3. It is very frustrating when your plans fall through. Did you miss the room you needed? Did you forget to save up for taxes? Did your troll eat all of your food? Many people just explode under such pressure and find it very difficult to enjoy the game under such conditions. I say, just learn from your mistakes, and do better next time.

In conclusion, Dungeon Lords is greeeaaaat! I hope to play it at least once a day until my wife and brother stop talking to me. Until then, Dungeon Ho!
