Update:
I have decided to push the release date for Fighting Formations back to 2011, hopefully January but that hasn't yet been confirmed.
The main reasons are artwork (some isn't scheduled to be finished until October) and the relatively slow pace of playtesting these past few months.
This will allow us plenty of time for both items to receive the quality treatment I think they deserve. I'd much rather produce a quality product a bit later than anticipated rather than a potentially flawed product sooner.

agreed... I had a feeling this would happen... news seems to have slowed. Has the art been settled on top down or silhouettes?

Full-color side view. A few reasons for this: (1) This matches visually the vertical (not top-down) icons and overall layout of the infantry counters; (2) looks better when a tank squad sits next to a tank platoon on the map (top-down looks a bit silly, like momma goose and her three goslings); (3) much easier for the artist to find visual references online and in books.
The esteemed Charlie Kibler will be doing the vehicle and gun icons, by the way (with many thanks to Martin Scott for giving of his time to do sample tank images for testing).

Well, I greet the delay with some enthusiasm as it should give me time to squirrel away the money to buy it without enraging my better half. A good game is worth waiting for.

Chad had better be glad Combat Commander is such a fine game, otherwise we might mutiny; but there's CC in the meantime.

Really looking forward to this, the more refined it is the better!
CC:E was one of the best setup rulebooks I have ever read and the game system was well thought out and tested , FF looks to be the same, and it has Tanks

We could help out in play testing. Is it any Vassal module for testing? We all wishing a high quality game to be completed without delay.

Hi Chad,
I saw you at Consimworld a few months back, but didn't have a chance to introduce myself.
I was an old school wargamer back in the 80's, but I have to say the elegant design of Combat Commander was what primarily drew me back into the hobby.
Like most of your decisions, releasing Fighting Formations at its most polished and tested seems prudent and wise.
In the meantime I'm sure we all have plenty of CC to keep us preoccupied. (I may even have to try Dominant Species.)
Thank you for the updates -
